Default electric supercharger

There is a kid in town with a 96 mustang gt. He got an electric supercharger with a kand n cone filter from ebay. He said when you flip the switch and turn the fan on, it is a night and day difference. He believes over 30hp. Do those things even work? They are advertised 10-15% power increase. Sounds like bs to me.

I dont know if you have ever seen the videos rolling around with guys using leaf blowers on the dyno, but those clowns were using them with and without nitrous. Either way they gained some HP. I have not seen the kit you are referring to though.

Not another one of these threads... All you are going to do is block your airway... Listen to someone who knows something about cars. A mustang "kid" would be the last person to talk to about an LS1.

Man, you've got Royal Purple; what do you need a supercharger for? I once saw pictures of an "electric supercharger" that got sucked into the intake and screwed up a head. Don't take any of this kid's advice, unless he is asking you to drive his car off a cliff.

Im suprised no one has invented an electric supercharger that works, It sounds plausible enough. And while we are on the subject, has anyone ever heard of using compressed air type of induction? I always wondered why no one has invented a compressed air system that worked somthing like nitrous...

Im going to try and sell a garden hose on e-bay, that connects to your intake, and all you have to do is blow into it at WOT, depending on your lung capacity could get you anywhere from 5-100 HP

I got a 4" dust collector from Harbor Freight that claims
to pull 900+ CFM. Only wants 1HP to run it. But it does
not produce more than maybe 1PSI into a closed outlet.

Here's today's Fun With Arithmetic:

Power = airflow*pressure
600CFM at 5PSI boost
1HP=550ft-lb/sec

600 ft3/min*min/60sec=10ft3/sec

5lb/in2*144in2/ft2=720lb/ft2

10ft3/sec*720lb/ft2*(HP/550ft-lb/sec)=13HP power
in the airflow, exclusive of motor and compression
inefficiencies.

Ever seen a 20HP electric motor? Petite and light
weight, isn't it? Yeah.
