Question bullet muffler in I-pipe for LT/ORY pipe combo....which one?

I have LT's, ORY pipe and a Magnaflow catback and I would like to get something put in the I-pipe to tame it down some. I love the way my Magnaflow sounds, but I don't like how everybody in a block radius can here me coming under normal driving (rasp)...not to mention accelerating away from traffic lights. I can't even moderately get on it w/o the guy next to me thinking "I am giving her hell" and then trying to race me...

I mainly want to quiet it down some and get rid of ALL the rasp I have around the 2,500-3,500 rpm range. I don't want something very restrictive but yet I want it to tame it down. I know, I know....it seems like I want the best of both worlds (quiet as well as free flowing) which is hard to do.

Anyway, what bullitt type muffler do you think would be the best choice for my application? Again, I mainly want to get rid of all the rasp and quiet it down a little bit w/o losing a bunch of flow.

thanks,
Paul

The xr-1 worked just awesome for me. Made a heck of a difference in getting rid of the dreaded RASP.

I have LTs and a Magnaflow catback and am thinking of going with the borla myself.

yeah, I was thinking about going the the Borla too but then saw that there were more choices. I just can't help considering the Magnaflow based on the price and the build quality Magnaflow is known for. The Magnaflow is also a straight through design.

I have the same setup and was in your boat.I installed a dynomax 18" bullet and it really tamed the normal driving down.Under WOT it is awesome and the bullet didn't hurt my ET at all.

I actually had a Rumbler before, but "Magnumbler" sounded dumb. So I just went with the Magnamouth name.

But it sounds smoother and deeper than it did with the Dynomax bullet. I guess because this bullet uses stainless steel wool while the Dynomax bullet uses fiberglass.

There's a guy on here(danredz28 I think) that posted some nice clips of his Magnamouth with lt's and ory, sounded real nice. Check it out if the search is working.

how about "mumbler"?

why don't you put cats on it? that will definitely get rid of the rasp, quiet it down and make any gas smells go away.

nah, I don't want to have to deal with cats...I have known of too many of them plug up on other vehicles. In one case it actually trashed the motor. Besides, I like the smell of a non-catted exhaust

A $30 dynomax 12" race bullet in the I-pipe will take the edge of the rasp. If you want it a little tamer, move up to the 18" size. It will knock the volume down a few db and kill 80% of the rasp.

My opinion, the Borla XR-1 #40085 is the best option. Gives you the deepest rumble and eliminates almost all the rasp. We sell them for $110 + s/h

The next best is the Magnaflow muffler pictured above. Not quite as deep as the Borla, but for 1/2 the price, definitely has the best price/performance ratio. We sell them for $60 shipped.

The best priced option is a Dynomax bullet. Has the least effect, I would say eliminates 60% to 70% of the rasp. Makes the exhaust a tad bit deeper. We have a couple of these in stock for $36 + s/h. These are also by far the easiest to fit into the I-Pipe without clearance/banging issues.
