Default Cracked Throttle Body

Just got my TB back from being ported and found this.
Any harm in putting it on my car this way? I'm afraid that this piece could fall off and end up deep inside the motor

I would take a dremel and remove that piece, and make the edge as smooth as possible. Definately wouldn't put it on the car until that was done though. Should be fine after that.

That's what I'd do.

Looks like it was dropped in shipping and the lip popped loose.

yes...who did your port job?....not that i think they did that break....but the port job could be better...they didnt really take the edges down on the sensor intakes up top...and you do need to dremel that off otherwise it wont seal well and youll get unmetered air

That looks like one of mine. You can just break that part off or contact the shipping company on shipping damage.

Which edges is it that prevent the TB from sealing? I must not be seeing what you're seeing, I don't see where it would let in unmetered air.

depending on how far that crack was, the bellow wouldnt cover the crack, meaning it wouldnt be sealed off properly...and the suction from the intake would pull unmetered air in, anything past the maf that would allow air into the manifold would be unmetered and in turn....cause your car to run rich and bog....that crack doesnt seem to be that deep into the tb lip so it would be ok....

why would the bellow not cover that crack? its RIGHT at the end of the openin of the TB. the bellow slides onto the TB like an inch. just grind that stray piece off, the bellow covers it up and its not gonna effect anything at all, you wont be able to see it and wont be able to tell performace wise.

....i retracted my statement on the lip thing, i guess i didnt look at it well or something...more or less read then looked....that crack wont have any effect....

the port job looks good, i just wondered why the edges on the sensor intakes were still kinda sharp....what is that last thing you buff it with?....i use a very fine sand paper grit then a terry cloth type dremel bit...

Yeah it's Bo's port job. I think his actual port job is great. I guess the pic didn't pick it up too well, but the edges on the sensor intake are nice and smooth.
I'll probably file a claim with UPS (seems like I always get broken stuff from them, they even stole my ipod in shipping once...I opened the ipod box and there was a nice big rock where the ipod should have been )
I'm not worried about the bellow sealing, it should cover over past the crack and the worm clamp will tighten down further back on the body anyway. I'll just cut that piece off and sand it smooth so it doesn't rip the bellow.

Thanks for everyone's replies. I totally recommend Bo White for porting...this mess-up had nothing to do with Bo.

A word of advice, UPS will claim that is was boxed improperly.

Don't let it stop you keep fighting and eventually they will give you a refund or partial, it's better than nothing.

Even if you didn't get insurance all packages are covered up to 100 dollars.

This is from all of the horror stories I have heard of UPS.

Just break it off, sand the edges smooth and put it on. That will not effect how it works one bit. It's not exactly rocket science there. Is the art of car crafting and just figuring out little stuff completely dead?
