Default Thoughts on this exhaust setup...

I currently have Pacesetter LT's, a TSP catted-Y and a Magnaflow catback. I'm looking to change things up and have been looking into a h-pipe setup. I plan on keeping the same headers I got, to go along with a ORH and Flowmaster DF 1 chamber mufflers dumped. I may use my Magnaflow cats from my TSP y-pipe, but I want to hear it with and without cats before I decide on that. I plan in the future to put a TR-224 cam in, so cats may just in fact be the way to go. But here is what I have planned out so far...

H-pipe:
Summit Racing 3" h-pipe (part # SUM-642030) - $41.95

or

Flowmaster 3" h-pipe (part # FLO-15921) - $43.88

Mufflers:
Flowmaster Delta Force 1 chamber mufflers (part # FLO-9430109) - $145.90 ($72.95 each)

Turndowns:
Flowmaster turndowns (part # FLO-T3030) - $29.88

The part numbers are Summit Racing's part numbers if you wanted to know. I want to get some input on this setup before I purchased it. I can sell my Magnaflow catback and get back most of this money, if not all of it. So....whatcha think?

I was told not to go to duals due to ground clearance.

well if you look around on here duals are definatly popular and if they are a sloppy job you will lose ground clearence but definatly they are worth it... just make sure you get a good exhaust shop to fab it up for you

Yes, ground clearance isn't that great, but with proper work, can be made with exceptional ground clearance. There's guys on here with duals and lowered 2" and they still have good clearance. It's all on how it's setup.

Duals are by far my favorite and can be done with plenty of clearence. Just make sure to do it at a high name shop.

So what does everyone think of this setup? Which h-pipe should I go with? I want to know how it is as a whole before I go selling my Magnaflow and purchase the h-pipe, mufflers and turndowns.

So does everyone not think this setup is good? I'm just wanting to know before I spend the money to buy it. Thanks.

I think that is a similar setup to what Torched 02 TA has on his car and it sounds extremely good. Unique setup too for an F-body.

Why an H instead of an X?

Basically sounds very similar to what I want to do soon. I need to hear some true duals in person as well.

Probably because on an F-body, the H-pipe will keep the deep, bassy rumble throughout most of the rpm range versus the "racey" "high pitched" sound of an X which doesn't seem to be as favorable on LSx's.

This setup is exactly what im looking for!! I also want to know why this particular setup would be better. Im going to runs cats with mine...just waiting to purchase the parts. Glad to see somebody else post this issue about running cats with true duals and single chamber flows dumped on a A4.

I like the sound of an h-pipe setup on an LS1 and the torque-y-ness that it gives you throughout the rpm's. An x-pipe may gave you better HP numbers, but TQ is actually what you feel, and TQ is what an h-pipe will bring to the table. Just my opinion. When my car is making 500+ HP, I may switch to an x-pipe setup, but for now, I'm going h-pipe.
