Are MAC mid lengths good for 2 tenths?
The difference between a true mid length and long tube is minimal. Uslally about 6RWHP max, though the torque gains from LT's is noticeable. My car did 399RWHP through "crappy" MAC mid headers, they must be good for something.
Here's the results from the exhaust sticky, which should be read first: http://ourworld.cs.com/jrpws6/mod+guide/macs+vs+LT.jpg
There is a decent under the curve gain from LT's but the peak numbers are basically the same.

OK great. Then do the mid lengths. They work great. As a matter of fact let me order some.
There are better priced LT's out there now but EVERY cheap LT i've installed on an LS1 car has not fit very well. Just goes to show you get what you pay for.
That aside, I just love how the LT zealots jump in and bash MAC mid headers like they are worthless garbage when in fact, they know little about them at all. For MY CAR and every car i've done installs on, the mids fit WAY better, give better ground clearance and you give up minimal power. Plus you can find a good set of MAC headers used for $200-250 shipped. You'll be hard pressed to find a set of LT's with Y pipe for that.
Now all you LT zealots can jump back on your soap box and bash the MACs all you want. I'll just sit here and admire my 400RWHP dyno graph with MINIMAL mods and my "SHITTY" MAC headers.
