Default Steering shaft rubbing headers?

I put in some Kooks LT's and now my steering shaft is rubbing along the first tube is this normal? Makes driving a little rough. Been that way for a couple of weeks now and is getting smoother everyday but thats because it is wearing down my steering shaft. Would it mess up the flow if i knotched it for extra clearance?

Shouldn't be rubbing at all. What size headers did you go with? I have the 1 3/4 from Kooks with no rubbing whatsoever. Have you tried any adjustments to the steering shaft?

Same size! This may sound stupid but how to go about adjusting the steering shaft?

It also gets quite a bit of vibration from the engine especially under low rpm's when the motor is jumping around

I've dented the tube a bit for clearence, and have other times ground the shaft a little. Could it be worn motor mounts causing the clearance issue?

Could be motor mounts I gotta check it is getting a little more vibration than usual right now. I will probably try to grind down the shaft before I try notching the header tube thats a bit easier. Just want to know if that messes with the integrity of the shaft?

There is a [11mm]bolt in the middle of the steering shaft, take it out and pull some clearance out, then put the bolt back in

It could be the mounts. You really should have swapped to poly while you were doing headers. I have the poly and might be why I don't have this problem. There is really not much to play with on the shaft. There is no bolt in the center. There are 2 bolts.... 1 at the column and 1 at the gearbox. Both ends slide in and out as one unit together. I just though you could play with it to see if that gives you some room at a certain point. It could be that you could remove the 2 bolts and slide the shaft a hair further up on the column which would slide it off the gearbox shaft slightly. Doing this may push it slightly away from the header. Don't grind on the shaft. You have a set of handmade custom headers and fabricators can make mistakes. Just something to think about. The motor mounts as well.
