Default Header "XPERTS" need opinions please

I am going to buy headers long tube headers for my Firehawk and can not decide on which ones to go with.Is there a performance or fittment difference between SLP's or Kooks or Dynatechs compared to Hookers or Pacesetters.I know there sure is a price difference.Other than that is whats the big difference? Thanks.

I only hear good things about Kooks...peformance wise and appearance wise.

Cost a little bit more than some, but you get what you pay for.

Main difference I think you'll see is the size of the primaries and the collectors. Also, construction is key too. The quality of the welds, finish and size of the flanges are all important to how well the header will last.

I'm sure gains will vary all across the different manufacturers, but the other things are something to consider as well.

Kooks are sweet, but expensive. The SLP's suck for ground clearance. QTP's are supposdly a nice header. Pacesetter is a good header, especially for what you pay for them. They arent expensive, are good quality, and fit pretty damn good. I have a uncoated set of pacesetters that are quite a few years old now and are still doing fine.

everyone says SLP hang the lowest of any header...I would not get them for sure...my coated Edelbrocks look nice and went in pretty easy and don't hang any lower than most I have seen.

Is the performance gains not as much with Pacesetters? Is that why they are cheaper?I have heard from a lot of people that the pacesetters are great quality so thats why I was wondering.Dynatech i've heard are good also.Well i guess no SLP's cause I dont clearence issues.

SLP = Clearance problems and one of the oddest designed headers I've seen, it is dated by some of the other options available now

Pacesetter = Great bang for the buck, get them coated to help with rust issues

Kooks/QTP = Your 302 Stainless Steel Flagship headers, beautiful on and off the car, but your wallet may not like you afterwards

The Dynatech Supermaxx fit very good, made well, of stainless steel, but are expensive.

I agree with this guy. 100% stainless, comes with small high flow cats and a 2 1/2" y-pipe which is great for clearance and they come with everything needed for installation.

Pacesetter is a good budget header, they're cheaper simply because they are not stainless, shouldn't be much if any performance difference
If you have the cash and want the stainless go ahead and get the stainless, but I'd also have them ceramic coated for the thermal insulation that the coating will provide
It's up to your budget entirely, my wife would have shot me dead had I spent close to $1k on headers, so I got the coated pacesetters and am very happy with them

If you go stainless you don't need the ceramic coating. Stainless retains the heat itself the way a mild steel/coated header would.

If i were u id go QTP/Kooks... QTP supposedly gains the most of any header cause of the merge collectors. QTP's also come polished and are a bit cheaper than kooks. As far as fitment goes... i had a header from a bad batch a while ago, but the thing is, if you install the headers urself, make sure you raise the car as high as possible to get the correct angle.

Bottom line is...

SLP: Never
Dynatech: I have never heard of anything about them so i cant comment.
Pacesetter: i guess... save money but i have even heard crap about pacesetters
QTP/Kooks: Best quality, welds, flanges and probably just a BIT but hardly noticable performance gains, but u gotta spend $800 on just the headers wheras u can get pacesetters and their y-pipe for like 700 shipped, maybe less.

With the odd design of SLP long tubes and ORY I picked up 25RWHP and 29RWTQ. Ground clearnce not an issue unless you lower your car. I am willing to put my gains and mods against other header system. Just another way of saying I am very happy with my system.
