I know it's not the cleanest install and kind of rough around the edges, but thats only if you look on the inside of the hood. Straight shot to the filter and sealed from the hood to the air box, thats all that matters to me. I know it's not "ram air" because of the location but it's certainly a cold air intake. Sounds awesome and will suck a piece of paper through the nostrils.
Oh and don't mind the moth ***** the car is in storage.

I actually fabbed up a piece for the rain. I made it so it just clips in with the clamps for the lid, it just forces any water down before it reaches the filter. I've driven it in the rain many times like that and no water ever got past the filter, I have a clear lid so i'd be able to see. Although that was when I was running a k&n, havn't tried it since I switched to paper. I was also always verry light on the throttle just to be sure it wouldn't gulp up any water.

when i had my 98 t/a back in 1999, I decided to do the "free ramair mod", from the back then new ls1.com site. I drilled 4 holes on the bottom of the airbox and my dumbass hit a large puddle of water(no lighting and alcohol) my engine got hydroLocked, now imagine an ssra or the fast toys model? wouldn't wanna try it. I had to wait til 2002 to buy another fbody!!!!!!!

thats because your dumbass drilled holes in the shroud. the SSRA scoop has a gap for water to run back dsown and faces forward.

Are these that hard to make ... seems like you would just need some platic and weather stripping ... I never got one because I have a Ram Air from underneth the car ... I also hear its only one or the other .... FTRA or the Hood Ram Air ....

01pewterbird - Could you please post finished pics? And a few with the hood closed so we can see the air filter through the BG Ram Air.

Peace,
Craig.

Peace,
Craig.
Those are the finished pics, lol and the hood is closed in about 3 of the pics showing how it looks from the outside. You can't see the air filter because there isn't one in right now(otherwise you would in those pics), I just sent my TB out ot be ported so my whole intake track is off up to the manifold. If you look closely you can see the notches in the stock air box where the lid clips usualy are(normally you also see those from the outside pics), i had to tape the clips up so they didn't get caught while opening and closing the hood with the lid not on, which one did and broke the plastic holding it in . And that isn't a BGRA, I made it out of sheet metal ,epoxy, and weather stripping. Any qustions on how I made it just ask.
