Default Cant decide on headers.

I plan on getting headers in a couple of months, but I just cant decide on which ones to get.

Here are my options:

1) Go stainless with ebay xs headers

2) Go coated with pacesetters or edelbrocks

3) Go all out with QTPs, Kooks, or new Edelbrocks stainless.

I vote for the XS headers, get something that is going to last for a long time that wont hit your wallet so hard.

Then use the extra cash to get true duals

I would aviod the E bay headers, Ive read a few things on here with them having poor quality with the emission extensions falling off, id go with pacesetters or QTPs if you have extra cash

even top quality headers have this problem. its just such a small tube the least little thing will break them off.

Kooks, if the guy wants to fork out over a grand for headers alone he can have at it

Another vote for the ebay headers they are stainless, good quality, nothing but good things have been said about them, and why get coated when you could have stainless.

Happy with my QTP purchase except the banging on the K-member problem. Coated Pacesetters are great to save cash, but QTP stainless saves me the worry.

Problem is my wallet still hurts...

How long does it take to unstall exhaust manifolds and install a new set of long tubes? and how much does it usually cost?

Go with Kooks. Whoever is paying "over a grand for headers alone" is getting ripped off. No way are Kooks that much. Bottom line is get what you pay for. Kooks isn't one of the top names because that have a poor product or shitty customer service. I'd recommend Kooks and if not them then QTP. With QTPs you may have to do Poly Motor Mounts to stop the Y-pipe banging. Kooks LT and Catted Y/ORY will fit just like stock. Clearence will be the same if not better.

Search this forum (External Engine) for QTP, Kooks and Pacesetters. There are a lot of POLLS, threads and basic info that will help you out.

Not only is that a common problem with all headers with these emissions fittings, if not handled with care, but...

...XS is comming out with a "race style" version of thier headers. I have the origional headers and the quality is INCREDIBLE. I have heard nothing but good things about these, minus some minor fitment issues that ALL headers brands have. Plus they are stainless and will last forever. So my vote goes for the XS stainless steel headers...

Most people don't realize that the cheaper Edelbrocks (the ones that are under $400) are the ti-tech coating ones with a weld-on merge. A lot of people experience rust with this system.

I'd get Pacesetter, Kooks, or QTP.

Wow that's a killer deal

I'd go coated pacesetters and true duals. The few hp you're leaving on the table will be overcome by a good flowing system.

Thanks, yea I did the install myself. Very straightforward (had done a set previously on my friends 02, QTPs...), in fact we found the pacesetters EASIER to install (mostly because they are a "shorter" longtube, meaning the collector isn't as long The only hangup was the dipstick, ****** would NOT wanna come out of the pan, if not for that, would've been done inside of 5hrs... it took 12. So according the formula above me that puts me at pretty stupid The duals were "easy" meaning to bolt 'em up, it's pretty straightforward, an extra set of hands is IMO an absolute MUST. Getting them to tuck JUST RIGHT is what takes the most time. User "DirtyJohn" has an AWESOME writeup for the duals, and I used that. If you got any other questions just PM me, I'll be home for Thanksgiving if you want another vid of the car for some decision making purposes Good luck
