The first time you do it may take you half a day. It gets easier once you know what you are doing. And you do have to convert to LS6 style coolant crossover lines.

Be careful of the oil pressure sending unit.

the whole emissions thing is easy, i actually had my tuner delete my codes before i even bought my headers. the thing about drive cycles is even if you have a stock car, if you disconnect the battery you will have to drive for a while for the o2s to test ok, otherwise they'll fail the readiness test, i dont know why anybody is making that an issue, the main thing is deleting the rear o2s codes, EGR, AIR, all that ****, and i mean DELETE not just clearing the codes if they show up or turning them off. any tuner or individual with hptuners or ls1edit can do it...then just hope you go through emissions before the p0135/155 codes start showing up, but theres only a chance of them showing up if you are unlucky...

I didn't notice any loss of low end power/torque when I installed my ls6 intake.

Nothing but gains for my swap, gained more than enough to offset putting in 9lbs more of rotational weight via the LS2flywheel/LS7 clutch.

Also, a bit of my experience on the install.

Regarding the emissions tests... I had a set of Mac Mid Length headers on my car and the SOTP feel was enough to make me want to change them every 2 years to pass smog.
I have changed headers/manifolds twice now and each time it takes me less and less hours. First time was like 12 hrs and second time was like 9 hrs.
