As long as they don't do a sniffer test and you aren't throwing any codes I think you will be fine

If you get your car tuned and they delete the code for the emitions then you will be just fine.

when i get my 8-02 LS1 this summer, the first thing I am doing is lid, and then pacesetter longtubes, and I think I am going to go with their true dual kit with sweet thunders if I can make it pass emissions...I am probably going to be installing these myself with a buddy of mine, so do I jusr bring it to a performance shop to tune it so that it doesn't throw codes?

you mean the tuning or the LT's w/ TD's? check texasspeed, they have sweet deals on pacesetters with a TD setup that dumps before the axle, i think 375 for the headers and somethin like 400 for the duals. As far as tuning, if all you did was get the code deleted it shouldnt be too bad, don't know though-this is just information i gathered from on here. You could also check into getting a mail order tune to delete the code and also tune your car for the LTs

Call some shops around your area to make sure that they will be able to tune your car and see what programs they will use ie. HP tuners, LS1 edit, etc. If they are able to tune your car, then they will be able to delete any codes thrown as well as dial in your a/f ratio. Cost could be anywhere from $300-600, just depends on the shop. Your much better going with a HP or LS1 Edit tune than a mail order tune imo but if the budget gets up there I can understand.

SLP also has a Diablosport tuner? I saw it on lmperformance.com it $80 more than a regular diablosport...Is it worth the extra $$? when I do the exhaust install, I'll probably just save for the tuner because I doubt I'll have to emissions as soon as I buy the car...

WTF?

Why will duals affect emissions anymore than a catback?

As long as you are running cats it won't make any odds.

Well according to your sig you have an ORY so technically will fail a sniffer test anyhow. Plus a visual. If the PCM is throwing codes for the lack of CATS (or EGR/AIR) then you'll fail ODBII as well.

Duals will have ZERO affect compared to running a cataback. The things that make you fail are all listed above and can all be run with duals if you so want.

I guess some places won't like the exhaust dumping under the car, but running them out the back solves that problem.
