Foul smell coming from vents
Ever since I took my car to the dealer to get a Y pipe gasket replaced, I've had this foul burning smell coming through my vents.
There excuse was that it was th WD-40 that they used for sliding the pipes together easier, but that smell still hasn't burnt away
It only happens when the car has been running for about 5mins, long enough for it to warm up. Also it seems to only come through the vents when I'm using the regular venting system(not defrost or A/C)
Can anyone suggest what to do? I figure I'll clean my engine bay in hopes that the smell was just something like a plastic bag burning.
Thanks
Gary

Re: Foul smell coming from vents
Usually when you get the burning its either the new piece breaking itself in or something is burning off of the piece...
when I had my headers put on a while back it smelled horrible in my car for awhile

No fluid on behind /under the dash or on the carpet, but I'll check to see if there are any plastic rimnents on the pipeing.
I hope you're right that its just a new gasket breaking in, how long does that take?
Thanks

sometimes if ur car sits in a "smelly place" for a prolonged time it will spit that smell out of the vents for a short period of time.....seems like it would blow it out fairly soon

Damn!!!!! that smell has been there for like 3weeks, is it possible that I started my car with a cat suck in the engine? LOL
Where do the vents get there air from?? the dealership shot some sortof deorderant down the vents, but still the smell persists...
Thanks for the suggestions, anymore?
