How bad does this TB look?
? J/K Aluminum doesn't rust so I'm sure it's just oil and carbon grime on there. I would just clean it off with some 400 grit sandpaper or something and you'll be fine. Our PCV systems tend to spew quite a bit of oil from the crankcase, and it goes right in behind your throttle body (which is why it tends to get on the back of the blade and not the front)...if you'll look in your manifold, I'm sure you'll see a decent oil residue all over.
A catch can can drastically reduce the amount that gets by, but even then, some will still get on the back of the TB. A good cleaner will take it right off though.

Besides if you really are paranoid about it, how do you know you will get back your original back if you ship it out? Maybe they mess it up and send you a replacement piece? If it works it works...
With Shaner it may work differently because he is a smaller business.
Either way, the car would be drivable if I had a spare TB.

The only difference is that Shaner fills in the IAC hole so there's less turbulence there but then again this one has the TB blade shaft halved so there's less obstruction in the direct air path. If you got one off ebay you could always sell your stocker for $40 or $50 (whatever they go for) and then you're out a total of about 1/2 of what the Shaner costs. That's how I would go about it but that's just IMO.
