400hp+ i would say you should hit up kooks but if your just looking for something nice and enjoyable with a pretty good sound go with pacesetters.

my buddy has a 98 WS6 with pacesetters and corsa catback. ****** abnoxious!
it all your opinion and how much $$$ you got.

Why would a 150 shot help you lose power in the end? NO2 is safe if you know how to use it, and have the bottom end built for it. I know people who have been spraying a 150 shot weekly for years with no problems.

for 400hp+ as long as you have longtubes it really isn't going to matter what brand you have. Pacesetters are not going to restrict you over 400hp like you seem to think.

I almost went with Kooks headers when i saw the flange at the end of them allowing you to get the y-pipe on without any banging. However,, i went with the Pacesetters cuz they were the cheepest thing out there and no one i spoke to had any problems during installation. (i didn't either)... Seems to be a pretty damn good header.

Also, pacesetters fit the best imo, i've installed edelbrock shorty's, pacesetter longtubes, and slp longtubes.

I'll admit, my pacesetters were the easiest to install/remove of any header I've worked with. They literally FELL OUT the when I removed them last. The Kooks can be a pain to get in, but nothing to make your decision about.

The Kooks y-pipes are hands down, the best on the market. I've installed their ORY on mine, and a catted y on a friends car, both have incredible ground clearance. If you spend the money on the Kooks, you'll be grinning from ear to ear. If you want to save some dough for other mods, you'll be more than happy with the Pacesetters.

Stainless > Coated... but the power differences are very minimal if any at all. You are paying for the material, not the power.

Oh yeah, Kooks are well worth it. Buddy of mine has pacesetters, I wasn't impressed.

pacesetters and kooks will both make your car go faster..

with pacesetters you have an extra $500 to spend on something else performance wise

with kooks, makes your car lighter by removing an extra $500 from your wallet

Very true but you have to remember that those beautiful pacesetters that you are talking about used to be on ebay...they were the brand that everyone was scared to try...and sorry about the pimping wasn't trying to hurt any sponsors, didn't know it was a problem with what i said...to each his own i guess...

I know this is an old thread, but I have dyno results comparing Pacesetter to Kooks and I'm going to share that here...

I replaced headers all the way back. Had Pacesetter (1-3/4") with custom exhaust and gutted cats. Now have true dual 3" with 1-7/8 headers.

Old exhaust:

(The one with the oval tips.)

(The one with the Y-pipe and two cats.)

New Exhaust:

Dyno:
(Blue is before Kooks, Red is after.)

I'm not partial to either brand but how can this be a fair assessment when you went with a larger primary and changed the entire exhaust to a more efficient design (x pipe)...

This looks like apples/oranges to me.

It may be apples and oranges, but I thought it showed that the Pacesetter headers worked just fine. The gains had with Kooks were minor, for the cost.

There is far more going on in that graph then peak gains alone.

1) Tq @ 3k rpm increased by 40-50

2) Peak power carried out higher in the rpm much better. @ 6700 rpm the Kooks setup making 40 more whp.

How much of that gain was going to a true dual exhaust?
