Yeah, u don't need to remove the starter or the steering linkage, but you might have to grind off the square nub on the driver side of the block. Or u can do what I did and loosen the ds motor mount and jack up that side to get it in, while you're they're remove all that heat shield crap!

if you dont need to remove the steering linkage, how does it work? Doesnt the linkage go through the headers? Or just around the outside?

you don't have to take off the starter or the steering linkage but it's worth it to me. it's not hard to take off and gives you so much more room to work with. especially with pulling the dip stick tube. you can just let your starter hang and make sure you lock the steering wheel before removing the linkage.

Around the outside. The starter might be a good idea to remove, mine was already out from me swapping in a 3500 stall. Passanger side without the starter slides right in. The drivers side you don't have to remove the steering linkage, i had to kinda tilt the header collector towards the passanger side and rotate the header as i fed it up through around everything.

do not use the gaskets that come with the headers

reuse your stockers if they are in good shape or get some new ones

I don't know if V6 Bird is speaking from experience or not, but there was absolutely nothing wrong with the EGR and AIR connections on my Pacesetters.

If you decide to go with the emission hookup the headers are fine.

One other point, if you have an adjustable torque arm you probably will have to modify the y-pipe if you go catted.

I have no clue what people are talking about with the gaskets being horrible? Maybe they ordered them years ago when it came with crappy paper gaskets or something? I ordered my pacesetters at the begining of the summer and they came with the copper gaskets. They are excellent no leaks and you dont need to retighten once you install compared to the other crappy paper ones.

I have the emissions headers...But now that I have them on I would've preferred to go to the race ones. It really cleans up your engine.

I just hope you dont have fat hands...or you wont be getting the ones in the back.

Man, I didn't remove my starter or linkage.

Mine just slid right up into place from the bottom. No grinding or anything. I also got the extensions from TSP & zip tied the extra up so it wouldn't drag the ground or get caught on anything.

For your intake just go to the local parts store & get a 1 3/8" expansion/freeze plug. Push down firmly & tighten it as tight as you can. When the plates pull together it expands & makes a air tight seal.

This is far more simple than some can make it sound. Just pull out all your Air/EGR parts & stock exhaust pieces. Install new LT's, plug intake, plug in extensions & drive. They will smoke at first, its normal so don't get scared.

You will throw a couple codes, but it will run fine till you get them deleted.

Go to the closest automotive shop and purchase a 35mm Freeze PLug and tap it in til it stops...done.

If the headers do have EGR provisions, thats the only tube id highly recommend you cut off. It makes plug swaps easier and you dont have to worry about burning plugs wires on that side.

Id like to see pics of your EGR tube you connected to your headers...Cause outof hundreds of headers ive installed Mac's and Hookers are the only ones with EGR that actually fit correctly!

Show us them pics.

Ive done well over 300 header installs. I think i know what im doing. The steering linkage needs to come out. You dont have to grind the block off this way. The starter can stay in.

6 ton jack stands are your friend here.
