anyone have a problem with kooks hearders?
anyone have a problem with kooks hearders? last night while i was riding out to meet some friends, under a lite acc. i heard a pop and then a very loud exhaust leak. i pulled over and checked. i thought i was just a header gasket so i went home. this morning i went out to check it and found there is a 2 -2 1/2 inch hole in the #2 primary where the kooks logo use to be. anyone else had this problem?
Wow. Never heard of that before. Kooks should definitely take care of this for you though. They have real good customer service. I've heard of some cheaper mild steel headers losing the EGR or AIR fittings.
You should send a PM to GeorgeR@Kooks and direct him to this thread. I've never seen that before, but it seems the weld probably had a little too much penetration on the Kooks badge.

I just had the exact same issue, it was my drivers side AIR fitting.. Thought it was the header gasket as well till the next morning when I popped the hood to find a nice quarter sized hole in my primary lol.

The reason the headers look like that is because of extened duration of raised EGT. From running lean A/F ratio's. There for the elavated EG temps burn the nickel and chrome out of the 304 S/S. In return The material goes into a carbonized state, weakening the material around the fitting . We highly recommened not using block of plates on fittings.
