what kind of headers did you get cause i know with the ebay ones i got, you have to buy header bolts, gaskets for AIR, and a gasket and block off plate for the egr.

That was the only install that didint involve beer. Getting that thing high enough in the air is a balancing act, and beer is a killer.

ALSO don't forget about the 24" extensions. Those are the ones that will work.

the stock bolts will work, its just alot of people like to replace them. i personally re-used the stock ones. and as far as gaskets go, i would go with a set of stock GM metal gaskets. they work great, and arnt expensive. like posted above, i would go ahead and replace the spark plugs. but do it AFTER you get the new headers in because you dont want to brake one off while fighting to get the header in.

its up to you. not a most, but just remember its going to be ALOT easier to change the plugs while you already have the coilpacks and egr stuff(depending on the year of your car) off. its just going to save you some time/hassle further down the road.

if the gaskets are fairly new(6months), should they be replaced? Didn't mean to hijack this thread but I will soon be doing an install myself. Thanks.

I agree it will be easier. But with an ad saying those plugs last for 100k I will change in probably 60k, it gives me another 40k miles to drive. If the plugs were the $2 each ones it would be a no brainer to do.

depending on the condition of the gaskets, they may or may not need to be replaced. if they look like they need to be or your not sure, do it. they are cheap, and you will be very unhappy if you didnt do it if they start to leak.

as for the plugs, its your choice. with those plugs, i agree you have alot of life left in them, so its up to you.

Good luck!

SLP's are a pain dude. I hear you have to remove the starter and maybe steering linkage. Do a search on SLP LT headers. If you were installing Pacesetters or Kooks I can tell you it wouldn't be to bad. Just make sure to get your car up high. Here is my car. We took out time and it took us a little over a day could of done it in less than 8hrs if the damn dipstick came out faster

I would hands down say go ahead and replace them. They are cheap and it will save you a lot of time later.

I did mine with the car up on 4 jack stands as high as they would go and didn't have much trouble. This way I could feed the header up and my friend that was helping could start the bolts in while I held the header to avoid any cross threading. Took about 6 hours.

Having pair of decent sized needle-nose pliers handy will help a lot when taking out the dipstick tube if you have problems.

Good luck.

EDIT: By the way, I had pacesetters and they fit pretty well.

I would also suggest getting 3" band clamps instead of the U-Bolt style clamps most header kits come with, they will reduce any ticking you would get. I got mine at Napa for about $3 a piece and used 3 of them.
