If you loosen up those clamshell bolts be sure to have the engine supported with the jack and piece of wood so you dont put weight on the loose clamshell bolts and bend them. Just keep it supported and move the motor around.

If it makes you feel any better i thought that when i did mine i stripped out a bolt hole in the block! The factory bolt (drivers side front top) was singing to me when i tried to put it back in. Every time id pull it out there would be a fresh bit of aluminum on it... So, i just went and bought a grade 8 bolt from advance and in it went, no hesitation...and no pesky stud sticking off of it. So, at least you didnt scream because you thought you stripped out a bolt in that God awfull place!

Like Brad8266 said, loosen the bolts that hold the pedestals to the K-member.This is the ONLY way I've ever been able to get the engine mount bolt in. Then tighten everything back up. Good Luck!

Well actually I said loosen the clamshell to engine block bolts, but you can loosen the pedestal to k-member bolts too and it will help.
