TB bypass

I used some heat transfer equations a while back and proved that heating the TB does not significantly raise the temperature of the air as it passes through it. Heating the TB does help prevent TB iceing caused by the venturi effect at extreme cold temps. It is one of those mods that make the TB easier to get off and may provide a slight HP gain due to a small reduction in under-hood temps. Reading this thread will restate everything I just said, except in much more painful detail:

^^A butt dyno is what you feel when you accelerate. You will feel a little more after a good mod. Seat Of The Pants = SOTP dyno, you feel pushed back into the seat more.
GMHTP did a thing on free mods in an article. THe TB Bypass was one that made the best gain.

That link was for an LT1 TB bypass and that does make a difference. The LS1 TB doesn't really have coolant going through it, it just contacts the bottom of the TB to help warm it slightly. The bypass on the LS1 won't do much at all. I did it though when I swapped out my TB for a ported one. No cost involved if you have some old fuel lines sitting around and it makes it easier to remove the TB in the future for cleaning or whatever.
