Default Need help with car losing power!!

So my buddy has a 1999 Z28 M6. His mods are lid, ported TB, MAF, LT's, catted y-pipe, 3.73 gears, B&M ripper, and a spec clutch. When he cruises in third and the RPM's are about 2000, when he hits the gas the RPM's jump to about 3200 then slowley drops to about 2800 then it climbs up the RPM gauge. We changed the plugs, the wires and its not throwing any codes. Just wondering if anyone had the same problem? Please help us out. Any advice is well appreciated.

I had similar issues and it ended up being an 02 sensor just a thought to help.

Sounds like the clutch disk is slipping. How old is the clutch? Does it have a tendency to want to slip easier in higher gear? Cruise control at highway speeds, does he see the rpm's want to jump?

How many miles on the clutch? If you are in gear, like 3rd, and the rpms jump abnormally under power, it can only be one thing: Sounds like a slipping clutch, especially if it happens under power. If so, it's going to get worse and worse and start slipping more and more, until it is replaced.

I had a similar thing except mine is an A4 and it would level momentarily at about 4000 RPM's. I just had a bad tank of gas. Usually I get gas at the same shell station but I was out of town and went somewhere else. I've seen clogged fuel filters do the same thing many times.

Slipping clutch would shoot the RPMS up while the speed of the car stayed the same, right ? Does the car's speed change when it slips to 3200 ?

Have you scanned it or swapped the O2's ? Changed the fuel filter ?
