Speed Density = MAF Delete Pipe! :)
I grabbed some 3.5" aluminum pipe from the shop. My friend through a lip on it and I polished it tonight. It doesn't look half bad take a look. I love my SD tune! It's really awesome. It took a while for me to get the tune right but the AEM wideband and HPtuners made it happen! Weather permitting, Dyno Monday!!!!

it's easy...unplug your MAF and the car automatically goes into speed density mode. There's more to it than that (deleting codes, changing timing tables and VE tables) but basically the car uses the MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor to determine pressure inside the intake which it uses to determine how much airflow is entering the motor. IIRC the '93 F-bods actually had no MAF and were speed density from the factory.

Step 1. Buy HpTuners
Step 2. License the HP Tuners Speed Density OS
Step 3. Buy Wideband (AEM was my choice) wire it into the factor harness and set up custom PID's for logging.
Step 4. Start tuning.
The whole thing took me about 7 drives to get tuned just about right. It's really a GREAT tune. However, I'm running an OS specifically designed for SD. I'm also using a wide band which makes a world of difference when it comes to tuning.
BTW, this is the first and only tune that's been in the car. I just got this motor together a few weeks ago. This H/C package has made 500 rear wheel on a few different cars so I'd love to see that from this set up but realistically I'll probably see between 450-475. (stock short block) Dyno Monday weather permitting.

My A/F ratios are dead nutz on, cold start is perfect, warm up is perfect, light cruise is perfect. It's not just up to tuning WOT.

Two, with a big cam, very constant & accurate fueling, especially at lower RPMs making it a better daily driver.

A MAF is sometimes stepping on your toes while you're trying to dance. This is because it's giving contradictory information and causing more/less fueling from what the VE is commanding. Large cams cause system confusion and the MAF is the culprit. Once you get VE tuned in juuuuuuust right, the MAF is useless as long as nothing else changes.
Now, if you had two cars, running equally on MAF and SD tunes, and you stuck a dirty air filter in both, the MAF car would run better because it would be able to give a little feedback as to the actual conditions. But who lets their filters get dirty?
I'm still learning, but this is my basic understanding.

when chad at greenlight tuned mine we did sd becuase my current maf was shot. everyone has told me to stick a stock maf back in and call it a day. what are your specs because i will be putting in a 600 lift cam on a 112 and if the maf is steppin on my toes than i will sd again.

I don't know why weather would have a large impact on SD tunes...the engine is still calculating Barometric, Vacuum, Inlet Air Temp, RPM, and Engine Coolant Temp. However, I've only had this tune for a few weeks. The good news is, I did this tune and can change anything at any time
