The only legal headers for use in CA are CARB certified shorties. So not all shorties are legal and no mid ot LT is.

Your best bet is to either run a healthy shot of nitrous or save up for some form of forced induction.

Shorty headers work really well with FI.

Yeah, I noticed I forgot the "h" in front of the link. I also noticed that they looked exactly like shorties, but wasn't sure. If I do any modifying to the engine other than bolt-ons it will be cam only or FI. Either way I want to stay legal, run strong, and have a reliable daily driver.

Sorry to bring up a dead / dying thread.....

Shorty headers will work well with FI?

You mentioned it would work well with a SC in an earlier post, what about a turbo?

Shorty headers work BETTER with turbos than long tubes, actually. Stock manifolds even better than that. They dissipate less heat than long tubes which helps the turbo spool up faster.

Its hard to say, but in the end, just swallow hard and be compliant, buy a different car or move out of state for a silly car lol.
I think you should get busted for quoting a thread thats been dead for 3 years

Default shortie heades

i have a ws6 00 20k miles. i have edlebrock shortie headers. eaton posi unit w/ 410's corsa catback system, k&N FILTER, SLP LID. DYNOED @ WHEELS 327RWHP WHICH converts to around 436 hp on the crank. i save everything i take off. so it can be put back to stock.one day ( WHEN THEY WILL BE WORTH MORE THAN I PAID). I live in VA. & EMISSION INSP are tough (not like ca yet but on it's way. This speed shop that dynoed my car told me those headers were about 8 to 10 more hp to the wheels over stock manifolds. He also said the LT WOULD produce somewhere between 10 to 15 hp. agreed LT WILL give you more hp. they should know because 90 % the work they do is on ls motors. so saying shorties have no value over stock manifolds is not true. 327 RWHP is about 390 FWHP. That is assuming 15% drive train loss. You never stated if you were M6 or A4. And those 4.10 will eat a some of your RWHP numbers. I will also be moving to VA this year. Hope my H/C/I TA will pass smog test.
