Save some more $$$ for cobras/machs. When I was car hunting I saw a fork on the road. 03 red cobra stock 8x,xxx miles and 2K LPM Z8 on the same car lot. Both the same price range of $11.5K out the lot. I bought what I have on my sig. Sometimes I think I made a mistake. But I've always wanted a LS1 Z28 soo...

IMO, 2V is weak. I've seen them run low 13s to mid 13s n/a - fully bolt-ons/geared/5speed/sticky tires=weak. LS1 fbody n/a- full bolt ons/geared/sticky tires will run mid to low 12s.

it'll be an auto, so i take it 12s are out of the question? I love the looks of both the stang and t/a...My decision is getting to the point of looks and sound vs. performance. Right now, looks and sound are winning...I don't plan on going to the track that often, so the mustang might be a decent choice, then again, I don't want to get my *** handed to me every time i hit a light...What about a t/a with t/ds dumped with powersticks...if someone would ever get a damn sound clip...i could be sold on the LS1 forever... I just can't find a t/a with the damn ws6 hood for under 9g, a month ago there were 2 or 3...i won't be buying until may/june, so maybe something will be around...i hope...

If your looking just at autos, that limits your Mustang selection to either GT or Mach 1. Or if you buy a Cobra and get an auto tranny for it. But if your only looking to spend less than 10k, then a Mach 1 will be way out of your price range...so it looks like your only option is a GT. I'd take an automatic f-body over an automatic GT any day.

I was thinking about doing a GT but there forums SUCK so I didnt find alot of tech info like you would on LS1tech......

If you do a ford. Mach1,cobra, or Fox body..are the best ways to go fast....

Unless you boost the **** out it!

The real difference between a GT and an LS1 is the mods. You get so much more bang for your buck with the ls1. I mean stock they dyno @ 300 rwhp or so, whereas the GTs correct me if I'm wrong are low 200s. That's a huge difference in performance!

Plus ls1s take kindly to modifications. For instance, with just boltons you can dyno ~350 rwhp, try that with a GT! With a cam and boltons you can approach 400 rwhp, that is insane compared to the weak numbers of the GT.

The Cobra is not much better. Stock they dyno at or around 270. With cam you can see 330-340 or so, much less than comparable ls1s.

So basically the performance to dollar ratio is awesome with ls1s, but sucks with GTs.

Default Cheaper Route

For my future Trans Am, what is a better idea? Buying the TSP true dual kit and replacing the mufflers with powersticks or just fabbing a dumped true dual system from scratch with the powersticks and an x-pipe?

You can put a BLOWER on a 2v mustang and still get railed by cammed LS1's. If you like going fast, buying a 2v mustang is the dumbest thing you can do.

LS1 cars are getting cheaper every day, their mods are getting cheaper every day, and they will go faster for less money spent. It's a bit harder to do, but you can make an LS1 sound nice. With a mustang, you'll just sound really good going REALLY slow.

Powersticks are about the same as sweet thunders, which you can get with TSP duals.
