Default 90mm F.A.S.T. Intake on bolt-on car?

I've read that the 90mm F.A.S.T. intake is for stroker and/or high hp engines. Will it give a bolt-on car issues? I'd like to get one, and would rather have the 90mm now to take advantage of future mods (heads/cam). Will running the 90mm on my car now hurt performance or have no effect on it?

I have heard of a few cases where bolt-on cars lost a few HP and or TQ with a fast 90/90 setup. It's a total waste of time and money for any bolt-on car. BUT....

Since you are going to do a heads and cam down the road I say go for it. Mike @ New Era Performance told me he has seen heads/cam LS1's gain as much as 20 rwhp with a fast 90/90 over a LS6 intake.

So you may gain nothing now but it'll pay off later. Plus they look bad ***

Save your money, you can buy a set of CNC'd heads, or put in a cam, for what a 90/90 cost. You're not going to really pick up any power anyway. It's better to have your H/C earlier, and stick your LS1/6 intake on it now.

From what I recall you will not lose any power or torque on a bolton car, only pick up some power. So it depends if you really want to spend the cash on it, it could be spent on other things like mentioned, heads, cam, etc, that will yeild much better results. I would only get the FAST if it's the very last bolton you need for a H/C car. I also read that you want to get a ported version, otherwise it's not worth the upgrade.

I would suggest getting cam and heads first IF You know You'll get them. If You have LS6 intake on, don't do it till heads and cam. If You have just a stock ls1 manifold, I would change to LSx90/90. Don't waste Your money on LS6 if Your planning on getting 90/90 later.

id save for the H/C set-up. if you have a ls1 intake now, look for a used ls6 in the for sale section and save the rest for future mods. or put a 150 shot on, just for kicks, and use it with the H/C setup later on.

I agree...if you have an LS1 intake now you can buy an LS6 for about $300 used and then turn around and sell it for the same amount whenever you finally get a 90/90. As for the gains I picked up 30 RWHP with a port matched 90/90 and an underdrive pulley. So I would say about 25 of that was from the intake (full bolt-on cam only).

Pull the trigger Scott. If you have heads an cam in the future list, do it before you think you don't want to pay for it!

FWIW, I just did the same thing. My car is a bolt on car and I bought a 90/90 setup. I haven't installed it yet, because I sent it to Vengeance to get ported. I haven't heard of any losses of power, and usually there are big gains when it gets ported. I plan to use it for now and it will be especially good once I get heads/cam.

I say get it, you won't be disappointed.

where did you buy your fast 90/90set upfrom? Did you know that Ron has ported ones already in stock? When I bought mine called Ron up he had them already ported and in stock got it in 2 days.

I personally think if anyone gonna fork the money for a fast pay the extra and get it ported its well worth it,but if I had my choice over a fast or H/C I would do the H/C first or cam firts before the fast.I was getting heads and thought why not upgrade the intake
