for all you guys that say the dumped sounds better but you want it out the back, why not just weld 2 cutouts before the axle? open them up to have the dumped sound, but you still have it run out the back for good looks with the tips and so you don't have problems with state inspection that bans dumped exhaust. and then when you have to go on long highway trips, cap the cutouts. no problems and best of both worlds.

here's my new exhaust, single chamber Flow's, h-pipe, dumped before axle...actually, no dumps, just open mufflers.
sound kinda sucks, and the car has stock cam/tune...but you get the idea...

I was going to keep it dumped till about april (wanted to do other things) but the next week after getting the duals put on I got pulled over and was given a warning. So I got the tail pipes put on the next weekend.
I have some friends that have dumped duals on there TA's and they just had there tips welded to the chassis so you get the look of tips but the exaust is dumped

I think the dumed sounded noticably deeper due to the fact that the car wasn't parked in the garage. The garage acts like a giant cone on the end of a horn which amplifies all of the sound even the higher frequency stuff. Outside the sound waves can disperse much more and even the snow absorbs some. Great sound in both cases imo.

Sounds wicked, i am currently running open headers with my MS3 and love it. But everytime i look at the back of my car it looks awkward without tips. I'll probably throw back on my 3" X-Pipe with Sweet Thunder Chambered mufflers and just have a muffler shop continue them out to the back. again real bad-*** sounding car.
