I just did this on Monday. I used the 3" universal with cutouts and also put 2 12" Dynomax bullits after the x and then 2 more 12" bullits right before the tips, just to quiet it down some. I went under the axle because with a 12 bolt there is less clearance on the drivers side. I will try to get some pics as soon as I can. It fits fairly well but it does need to be tweaked here and there, nothing that a heating torch and 5 lb. hammer can't cure.

I finally have pics of the universal xpipe with cutouts. Click on my user name and there's a link to a website.

I used Summit's universal X pipe setup on my car. But it is an LS1. The clearance is terrible and that is really the only reason I am no longer going to run it. I had to fab up a little something to get it to fit on the driver's side since it aims out to the side, but that was really the only fabrication work I had to do. Match that with some Dynomax Bullets and you've got a killer sounding setup! But I see you have an LT1...I'm not familiar with their setup at all and not really sure how the header design is.

the LT1's dont have that turned down drivers side header, so the summit Xpipe bolts right on. literaly. but will be looking for something like this for dads LS1 car, thats why I wondered if the summit kit could be made to work on the LS1 also.

thanks

I did'nt use the summitt kit, I used the universal x pipe with cutouts from the yellow mail order catalog (not sure if they are sponsor). The main problem I had is that the kit is a straight out header connection, and the drivers side header is not straight out. So I just heated it up and bent it some. All the pipe from the first set of mufflers back was done at a local muffler shop. We had to crush bend them but the bends are slight so it did'nt kink them too bad.

anything after the muffler doesnt have as much as of effect on flow as before the muffler. but does have an effect on sound. people have used 3" to the muffler, then 2.5" after that to get max flow/lower sound. I might do something like that too.

I mean yeah, it'll work. But it just won't bolt right up. You're going to have to do some work on the driver's side to get it to mate with that collector (assuming you have long tubes, right?). Also, the clearance is total ****. It would be worth it to just go get a full custom deal done to get it done right.
