Default How loud/decibels(dB) are true duals?

I had a conversation with an Audiologist the other day and we got on the subject of cars. She told me that many of her clients were former drag racers and that exposure to loud cars caused hearing loss in their later years.

It got me thinking about my tsp duals. How loud do you imagine duals are?

You know that you are listening to an 85-dB sound if you have to raise your voice to be heard by somebody else.

Eight hours of 90-dB sound can cause damage to your ears; any exposure to 140-dB sound causes immediate damage.

150 Firecracker
120 Ambulance siren
110 Chainsaw, Rock Concert
105 Personal stereo system at maximum level

I thought it was interesting that volume level doubles every 3 dB.

So 103 dB is twice as loud as 100dB.

I don't believe there is any published data. Someone would have to measure their car with a decible meter in order to get an accurate measurement. That's a good question, but hard to answer.

Also some duals are quieter than some. The TSP duals are known to be one of the loudest exhaust systems. OTOH the Bassani True Dual kit is well refined, and not too much louder than a normal Magnaflow catback.

I think an LT/ORY/LM setup is still one of the loudest damn things I've ever heard, easily louder than my duals... but not by much If I can find a dB meter I'll measure mine, what the hell.

I'd guess mine is over 105 dB for mine...it pretty easily overpowers my car's stereo (and it is all aftermarket).

Yes...definitely WOT. Cruising below 2000 RPMs you don't even have to raise your voice to have a conversation.

I Just Went Long Tubes/td's Dumped Before The Axle And To Tell You The Truth It Is Quieter Than When I Had Stock Manifolds And Exhaust W/ A Cutout? Sounds Better But Its Just Not As Loud...well Maybe Over 5k Rpm It Is But For Everyday Driving It Is Quieter...weird Cuz I Thought It Was Gonna Be A Lot Louder...lol Nothing Compares To When I Drove The Car With Open Headers For 3 Days...now That Was Intense
