intake manifold ok so what im curious about is im shooting for somewhere in the 720 rwp range and im wondering if i can get away wit using a ls6 manifold or if i need to step up to like a fast 90/90 set up
You can use an LS6 intake manifold......... as long as you've got about 15psi pushing it's way through it and into a 408....

by no means is this one of those threads. i dont plan to dd the car. i was looking into a 383 with an F1a and good set of afr heads with about 15 psi. id be happy with round 500 rwp in my weekend cruiser then just have the 722 rwp when its just not enough
Max effort on a full drag car then get a sheet metal intake. Otherwise if you are spending 15k going forced induction get the 90/90 set up. IMO if its a weekend cruise car then 700hp is a lot even for that.

This FI Firehawk has an Victor Jr intake with aluminum elbow and makes 715rwhp on 93 octane. It works well and is more affordable than a custom made sheet metal intake or Fast 90.

With boost, stock intake and TB will work perfectly well, and will pose a negligable resistance to you making yor power goals.
An expensive intake like FAST 90/90 would be like throwing money down the toilet, if making power is your aim.
I switched from a stock ported TB and LS6 intake, to a Victory Jnr and 85mm TB, and to be honest, can see little difference in performance between the 2 setups.

i am doing what i like to call a budget intake...i traded a stock ls6 for a weiand...going to have it port matched to my heads and have the tb opened up to 85mm. Picked up a 85mm tb from professional products for 170 bucks and i guarantee it will outflow a ls6 with p@p tb. and i only spent 70 more considering its around a 100 for the p@p tb. All very nice components. Plus with 15psi or nitrous in my case i wouldnt want a composite manifold...

It may outflow the the LS6 TB......but can your engine outflow the stock TB in the first place ?
TB Blade and shaft restriction aside.....how big is your intercooler plumbing ? Likely 3"....if so how much restriction is a 75mm TB going to pose when the IC plumbing is 76mm OD ?
Not a huge amount I'd think. An 85mm would pose no restricion at all. It does baffle me as to why some people opt for bigger than that ( on FI applications )
