Default LS2 Intakes

I am sure this has been covered before but I did not see it in the stickies. Does the LS2 intake fit on an LS1 engine? If I had an 01 or later motor mostly stock, would it be better to use the LS2 intake or the LS6 intake, assuming the LS2 will even fit.

Just curious. Thanks for helping the newbie out.

Found several answers to this question. Looks like it is not really worth the hassle unless you are going with some kind of supercharging and doing a little port work.

Thanks for helping anyway. I just had to know if it was any better. Looks like I will keep the LS6 intake.

the LS1/LS6 stock fuel rail will not fit onto the LS2 manifold.

The '01 and later motor should have the LS6 on it already.

The ls2 intake is probably the most misunderstood lsx part out there. If you have an ls1 car with headers and a lid(bolt ons), then no, the ls2 isnt what you need. Thats like putting a 850cfm double pumper on a stock 305 for a old chevy truck, Its not gonna make power. Its gonna run like ****. On the other hand If you have a built 408 lq9 that needs to breathe you need an intake that flows more cfm's at its smallest point(throttle opening) Having a 90mm intake on a "built" motor will make more power than an 78mm(ls6) no matter how you look at it. The reason people are not seeing the power gain with the ls2 on stock ls1 motors, is cause the ls2 is engineered for bigger displacement engines. As far as fittment goes, you need a set of high flow aftermarket(pro prod, aeromotive, etc.) for the ls1, and some adapter o-rings to adapt your ls1 injector into the bigger ls2 injector holes (lingenfelter perf.) If you use ls2 rails you will need ls2 injectors and harness pigtails as well, this is to much trouble and costs to much $$. I went through this on my 408 so know how to make it work. Oh and you will also have to extend your map sensor harness. to the front of the intake.

This is an interesting point, most don't bring up so really this could be like a budget version of a FAST setup for larger cube motors.

When I was ordering all my parts for my 408 build, I spoke with almost every sponsor on here that specialized in engines, and all of them said pretty much the same thing. The FAST 90 intake would outflow the ls2, BUT... it was only by 2-3 hp on the dyno. So basically what they said was..... You can spend $850.00 to make 2-4 extra horsepower. Or you could spend $250.00 on a ls2 intake, and with the $600.00 you saved, buy a nitrous kit. Its a no brainer!
