Default Sweet Thunder vs. Flowmaster 1 Chamber

I have been on this forum for a while and trust me i know of the good ol' search button. But heres my question I am currently running SLP LTs, gutted cats, 3" X-Pipe, & Sweet Thunder Chambered Mufflers. I have just recently put that whole exhaust back on, before i was running open headers. Reason because theres nothing like a large cam like the MS3 with open headers. Well yesterday i put my exhaust back on and realized that yeah its not going to be as loud as before but it seems as if my exhaust is not loud enough. And my question was if Flowmaster 1 chambers were louder than Sweet Thuner Chambered mufflers? To me it just seems odd that the sweet thunders are almost straight through yet on idle you can almost barely hear the car.

I have heard flow one chambers on a cobra, and it made the car sound like it was underwater @ idle. They were fairly loud, and pretty much straight through as well.

I had pacesetters, o/r 3in. h, and sweet thunders dumped. Cam only with 10* overlap it sounded like a monster at idle. When in the throttle it sounded like the world was coming to an end At startup I used to scare small children, they would run off screaming and everyone would stare at the car at lights. I know its not as loud as open headers, but it is not quiet by any means. I loved the sweet thunders, and I would assume they are slightly louder then flows???

Sorry about that Patrick...
Well the thing is i guess i got so used to the sound of open headers that now maybe this set-up is actually loud, just doesn't seem like it to me. My friend at work says it sounds much cleaner especially at WOT.

i currently have sweet thunders on my true duals. the car is loud as fawk at high rpms. however, i'm cosidereing changing them to single chamber flows when i redo the true duals. they sit kinda low.... the reason i think about replacing them is because i can't stand the drone that the sweet thunders have at about 2500rpms...it sounds weird.

I love the tone the sweet thunders give off at WOT or just cruising. But at idle i miss the aggressive sound of the open headers. Im think i just might continue the exhaust out the back like i planned, but then putting straight pipes in the place of the sweet thunders.

sweet thunders are barely even mufflers. trust me, they're not making your exhaust much quieter than open headers. it just SEEMS quieter because your exhaust dumps further back. the open headers were dumped right under your seat. your exhaust really isn't much quieter than it was with open headers, it's just the fact that the sound is exiting 4 feet behind you that makes it SEEM quieter. if you like the sound, it's pointless to change the mufflers. your car may seem quieter to YOU, but trust me, it's not much quieter from behind the car. open headers sound like *** anyway.
