Hey guys I scanned my code and got a P0430. It said catalyst efficiency below threshold bank 2. My car was misfiring a few weeks ago and it turned out that the error code then showed bank 2's oxygen sensor went bad(spliced). So I replaced it with a brand new one and a few days later I got the P0430 code. The car is not missing anymore like it did before and nothing seems to be wrong with the way it drives now. I would just like some help on what this code means and what I need to do to fix the problem. I deleted the code twice now and after the first time it came back on.

P0430 is a passenger side cat issue. Either the 02 or the cat itself.

It is a bad passenger side cat. If you have less than 100,000 miles take it to the dealer and they will replace it for free. I had P0420 last summer for the drivers side cat and they replaced it for free. Then a month later I took it back off for LT's

theyre not stock cats, theyre aftermarket but thanks for the info guys, i thought it would be something like that

Sorry man I didnt read your sig first.......I had all the codes related to the cats tuned out by a friend after the LT's were installed.

Depends on how long you have had it in there. Do you still have the rear 02's in there? Cause the only function of the rear 02's that I know of is to make sure the cats are working properly. If you have them you can take them off, plug them and have all the rear 02 and cat codes tuned out by someone with HPtuners or whatever. Thats what I did. And I have a catted Y.

If you have the rear 02's I am not sure how they will work with aftermarket cats compared to the stock cats. Maybe someone else knows but most guys even with a catted Y still remove the rear 02's.

hmmm, i also noticed like the exhaust is putting through one of the cats at a very low rpm, yeah im not sure prolly gonna have to see if the light comes on again then go from there

The cat is fine, the sensor is fine. The problem is that the factory rear O2 sensors have a very narrow margin for what they report back to the PCM as "yeah, the cat's working right". Modifying/removing/replacing the cats along with moving them from their stock locations will change the exhaust gas consistancy they are used to reading.

The best thing to do is to delete your emissions codes (rear O2, AIR, EGR, etc.) The other possible solution is to run O2 sims, which will cause the computer to constantly see that the cats are working. You can decide which of the two solutions is best for you.


Third solution is to switch back to all stock, but who the hell does that ****?
