KOOKS or PACESETTER?? ASAP
Im Needing help Guys,
You may laugh at the title, for me having trouble choosing between $800 headers and $300 headers. But im in a bind, I would like to purchase the pacesetters because there cheap, supposely easy to install, and ceramic coated. It seems alot of people are running them, i just dont want to have to replace them, ever! Thunder Racing informed me that pacesetters have bad welds, and leak alot, this is why they dont sell them. I have never heard anything bad about Kooks, they seem to be the best header made. But making a decision of $1150 system, or a $500 system, i just wanna know if Kooks would be the way to go.
If i got the pacesetters I would have enough left over to be half way there to getting heads and a cam. Thanks for any help you can give me!!
If wondering, my car is a 2001 stripper Z28 M6. I have slp 2 cat-back, SLP lid, MAF, and bellows, and a Pro 5.0 shifter.

Nothing wrong with either set the pacesetters will likely outlive your car depending where you live.
The Kooks are actually easier to install and tuck up MUCH better and I think are a better design. If you have the money go with kooks but if you don't the pacesetters are a nice choice.
Actually in the budget header range I think the Edelbrock Hi tech coated Victors win out no questions asked. Just a bit more money and very high quality. I don't know why more guys don't run them...

I remember being told the pacesetters with poor welds etc were a first patch issue and very few people have problems with them.
If you want Stainless KOOKs or QTP otherwise Pacesetters. It's pretty much cut and dry for the ls1s.

THanks for all the help guys, im going to go with the pacesetters, Texas-Speed offers them ceramic coated inside and out for $500, im also going to go with one of there complete cam kits. And all for the same amount as kooks. I guess ill just chance it, but im sure the pacesetters will last the duration of the car. thanks again...

you won't be dissapointed with the Pacesetter's. I loved mine, i put them in without any problems and they fit well. they also sound great without anything else behind em' if anything you would have seen a possible 1-3 rwhp with the kooks. not worth it imo. have fun with the headers/cam!!

If you live and drive in an area where your car is going to exposed to salt or a lot of moisture, then I'd go with the Kooks. Other than that, you can't really beat the Pacesetters. I have no complaints with mine.
