Battery In Hatch??

Default Battery In Hatch??

Hey i was curious to see if anyone moves thier battery to the hatch in these cars? Ive had mustangs and always run the battery to the rear. Why have the dead weight in the nose when it could be in the very back?? Its not hard to do just take a few minutes and alot of 0g cable.

I did mine, put it whewre the spare tire was.

I didnt figure one would fit there, but a damn fine idea. I was just thinking drop it in the ttop storage hole lol.

Plenty of room where the spare tire was. Someone makes a battery box and mounts to put it there too i believe.

I've been thinking about putting mine in the rear driver side of the trunk, then make a little panel to cover it. I don't have the disk changer, so it's just an open space.

Why take 40 lbs off the nose and add 10 lbs of weight when you could just take 20 lb off the nose by switching to lightweight. It's a big debate... i'm having to move mine to the rear soon and not happy about it.

The disk changer is on the drivers side anyway. Well at least it is on my car. You have to have the battery in a sealed box to pass tech at the track too.

Typically a light weight battery in the trunk doesn't cut the mustard, more amperage is needed to start the car plus it depends on what kind of accesseries you run. Even if you do add an extra 5 pounds of weight to the rear, it's better to have 45-48 pounds in the rear than 40 pounds in the front IMO. If you drag race, You do have to put the battery in a approved NHRA sealed box (vented to the outside) mounted to the frame with a battery cut off switch routed to the outside back.
