Question Pacesetter or Kooks???

I am wondering which of the two I should get....

I have concerns for longevity, durability, flow, and FITMENT.

Are Kooks really worth the extra money?

I am a college student and have a tight budget, but I am planning on buying an ls6 intake, and race headers for the spring when I take my car out....

Any info/experience would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Kooks is worth it. I have that setup and it's great. They definitely fit all the criteria that you listed. Budget is always a factor when it comes to mods. I knew what I wanted for my Trans Am. My solution was to just be patient, save up the money for the parts and got what I wanted. I know it's hard to be stock manifolds/cats when everybody and their mom has headers, but saving up money for the ones that you want is worth it.

That sounds like good advice man, thanks. It is just really hard to justify paying $1400 for something most people never see lol. But, on the other hand, I love seeing that package on the doorstep and feeling all warm inside LOL

As far as fitment, I have heard that they bang the floorboard. Is this true? Or is it just the Y-Pipe that does? Also, do you know if his have started to rust and/or leak?

NO. Pacesetters fit PERFECT. its the y pipe that has issues. do not buy the pacesetter y pipe, buy a TSP adjustable one.

*beating dead horse* buy pacesetters

Pacesetters will last plenty long enough they may just look ugly in not to long of time. My Kooks make me pop one though!

I was in the same EXACT situation as you man. I had made my mind up on kooks, had the order ready to go then at the last minute i decided to go with the Pacesetter headers so i could have more money for other mods. But if i lived up north i would have gone with the stainless steel Kooks for sure! It will be well worth it in the long run.

Since fitment of the Pacesetters is so good, I would get Pacesetters, and a custom ypipe. Custom should be a little cheaper, especially if you are going to run cats. You can use the money you save for other mods. Kooks are nice though, if I could save up for a little longer, I would get Kooks.

i bought the pacesetters because my budget is low(military pay.) i love them!!! they where easy to install, look great still, and produce big bang for little $$$. i can not justify spending $1400 on a name when i can get the same thing for half the cost. i'm sure the kook headers are a great product, but you will not be loosing out on the pasesetters i promise.

I see that you have the Loudmouth/Ory/Pacesetter setup.....how is the fitment of the Y-pipe? Is the exhaust too loud or raspy? How long have you had it on, and is it rusted already?

Well for one you can get coated pacesetters with the pacesetter y from LS1speed.com for 500 shipped. I think thats the smartest choice.

I don't see why there is a thought in your mind to not get the pacesetters and save some serious cash. It is like comparing apple to oranges. They are different in several ways.

So are most people voting Kooks because they are the best, and most expensive? Or do you actually have experience with them, and think they are the best for my situation.

Also, it seems like the majority of people voting for pacesetters are voting for a custom Y......Is this because the TSP Y does not fit right? Or just because you think it will be cheaper?

Thanks for the info....
