Start with a set of prothane engine mounts, that is a very worthwhile mod to do, even if it takes 5 hours to do. They make a big difference.

So with the prothane engine mounts and maybe adding the bump stop hanger, I should eliminate this annoying problem?!!

The way that my y pipe was angled from the headers the hanger would not fit properly. I seen in another thread that someone had to modify the hanger and weld it further back than its intended spot.

The prothane engine mounts may fix it completely, if it doesnt install a new trans mount and a bump stop.

+1 on the prothane mounts.

My STOCK exhaust was hitting the floorboards, I guess I got unlucky and my car has a really tight clearance there. I put in the prothanes and it stopped completely. A little bit extra noise/vibration from the engine, but nothing you'll notice over your exhaust anyway.

I used the write-up mentioned by Luna and it helped a lot. Get the ratcheting wrenches and a strong buddy and it's not too bad.

Due to the louder exhaust all cars with headers will tend to have a little more vibration. I had a dumped x-pipe with my stock engine and it wasnt bad.

I'll order the mounts from summit. They sell them as a set with the trans mount as well. Will the trans mount help at all or make things worse?

Trans mount will help the banging for sure, but some people say it makes for alot more vibration in the car while others will say they feel nothing different.

I actually did my trans mount first, and that definitely increased the noise, although it did decrease the banging a little bit. Motor mounts increased the noise just a slight bit, but totally fixed the banging. Do the motor mounts first, if that doesn't fix it then try the tranny mount.

Here's my experience.

1. Installed system. Exhaust bangs.
2. Had new OEM motor mounts and tranny mounts installed. Banging just a little now.
3. Whacked the exhaust putting 2 wheels off on the road coarse. Major banging now.
4. Heated and bent the exhaust a little to fix #3.
5. All is good now.

I swapped out my motor mounts with prothane ones and got rid of the problem. I would suggest that. Yes they are a pain in the *** to change out on your own.... I did mine when I did my head swap isnce I had to remove my headers....

+1 to the poly motor mounts to stop the bang.

Maybe I should try the stock motor mount replacements first. Lots of people talking negative stuff about the poly's. Don't want more noise and vibration!

I had bad vibration/banging after installing my Pacesetter longtubes and ORY. I installed some poly motor mounts and no more Y pipe banging.
I don't notice any extra vibration with the poly mounts at all either, very streetable.

I still can't understand how new motor mounts will cause the engine cabin to get more noise and vibrate more.
