Default noobie here...will I hate my LM2?

I have listened to the ls1sounds.com information and read the stickys, but I'm still not sure. The car is bone stock, but I will be adding the SLP lid and FTRA kit. Hooker LTs and a Y pipe will be the only other major mods.

I won't do the LTs and Y pipe until this winter, but my question is....will I hate this LM2 setup with LTs and the Y? Would I be better off with the Magnaflow? These are my only two selections for an exhaust that I like. I'm not fond of the Magnaflow tips, but I can get past that.

My GN has 3.5" downpipe, no cat, 3" exhaust with a cutout and 9" Borla race muffler. Its loud as all hell, but it never gets raspy (V6) and I don't mind the drone too much, but that's because there is some turbo whistle thrown in there.

please help me not make a $400 mistake.

It will sound great with just the catback. After longtubes & the y it will still sound great if you put a nice pair of cats on it. Without cats it will be really loud and raspy. Even with magnaflow, you will still have the rasp if you don't have cats, just not as bad.

The LM2 will not sound remotely close to the LM1. There is someone on here with the LM2 with lt's and y-pipe and it sounds really good, so don't believe the hype

i guess ya learn somthin new every day. My friend had a no cat y-pipe setup goin into a 16" dynomax bullet and dumped before the axle and it was pretty raspy. Seeing as the LM2 muffler has a similar design, it seems like it would too

I have the LM2 w/ otherwise stock exhaust. It has a nice growl to it. I don't think it's too loud. Its fairly quiet when cruisin around town. Can get a little annoying on the highway at like 1900-2100 rpm's, but I like hearing it purr. Plus, if its THAT bad I'll just turn the radio up a little. Its not overbearing by any means.

I have a set of LTs and ORY waiting to go on so I can't yet speak for that.

If your doing lt's and y pipe id go with magnaflow. If your thinkn about a cam at any point in the future would definetly go magnaflow. However i havent heard a lm2 in person yet though.

If I'm not mistaken the LMII has a muffler in the I pipe? If so, you'll be fine. I drive my car with long tubes, ory, and an open Borla and love it.

thanks for those videos!!!! that's exactly what I needed to hear and I will go with the LM2.

I do plan on keeping cats on it (just about got busted on the GN for no cat awhile back) so I should be fine with some hi-flow cats and hooker LTs
