Little help? Whats needed for ~ 50hp gain on a LS1 Im talking with a friend on another forum and the topic of whether to go for a 04 or 05/06 GTO came up, and how difficult it would be to make up the approx 50hp difference between the LS1 and LS2. So basically what mods would you have to do to the LS1 to experience around a 50hp gain?

Go with the 05/06 if you are set on the GTO. They look better and you are starting with a 6.0 instead of a 5.7
To make up the HP difference you'd need intake/exhaust and probably a little more.
I say buy the faster newer car and jsut be happy with no modding. Later on if you decide to mod you already have the ls2. Besides you can find 04 in the low 20s and a new 06 is just under 30k but well worth the extra dough in my opinion.

get the 05-06 with the LS2. it's a far superior motor. the LS2 has much greater capabilities due to its larger CI, i believe 364 vs. 346. the LS2 is just better. period.
