get me into the 12's...help!!
ok, I am a semi-newbie here, and need some advice, I purchased a Powerdyne unit, but have now decided not to put it on. Basically what I want is to have a reliable daily driver, but I want to get it well into the 12's (12.5-12.8 1/4 mile range) I want to achive it the simplest way possible, as I do NOT want to have to keep taking it in and getting it tuned right due to problems (timing, knock etc...) So, here is my idea of what I am going to get, maybe if someone out there has close to the same setup, you can let me know if it will get me to where I want to be... I want to put:
High-Flow lid, Headers, Ypipe, LS6 Intake Man., MAF sensor, JET performance chip, and BBk 80MM throttle body, and MAYBE a cam.
anyone think this will get me to where I want to be?.... any suggestions on combos and such will also be greatly appreciated Thanx!

Do you have an A4 or M6?
For A4 get a lid, cut out or catback, ST3500 and some DRs and you'll be well into the 12s.
For M6 get lid, cut out or catback, 4.10s and some DRs and you'll hit mid 12s if you can drive it good.

sorry, I have 99 Z28, M6, so with the few mods you mentioned getting mid 12's, will I hit low 12's with the mods I mentioned? on street tires is where I am most concerned

I hit 12.9@111.5 on street tires with lid, cutout, headers and the free mods, w/ a 2.16 60. I dont think the car has mid 12s in it without radials and I dont want to break my rear. I have a m6 also.

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH DRAG RADIALS ON THE STREET...I HAVE GOTTEN 16,000 OUT OF MY NITTO'S AND THATS WITH ABOUT 10 TRIPS TO THE TRACK...THEY'RE NOT BALD EITHER...THE CAR WILL RUN 12'S WITH HEADERS,CAT BACK, CUT OUT,LID , AND 4.10'S...DEFENETLY.

I would not do the throttle body. A cut-out is basically an exhaust dump. The most common lie where the collector of the Y-pipe is. As far as 12's, you could get there with a lid and drag radials. It's entirely possible to get there with just those. There was a guy from GMHTP magazine that ran a 12.89 completely stock! Anyway, for deep 12's, I would do lid, headers, cutout, drag radials, LS6 intake, maybe gears. I think you might get there on those, but someone who owns a manual can probably answer better.
