Bassani LS1 headers...Are they out yet???
Anybody have these yet? Are they even out yet? Any links to anyone who might be selling them?
If anyone does have these, please give a full report on how you like/dislike them. Thanks

Re: Bassani LS1 headers...Are they out yet???
Ryan,
You're worrying too much about headers! What happened to the SLP's you said you wanted? I personally would go with either FLP's or the Hooker LT's.
Anyways, to answer your question, yes there have been a few people on this board who have already got the Bassani headers. I believe they are mid-length headers like the Mac's and you can buy them through Thunderracing. Keep in mind though, they are very expensive, especially with their y-pipe. I haven't heard enough to comment on whether they are worth buying yet but someone else should be able to answer your question.
BTW, did I read correctly that your already thinking about getting rid of your SLP 20TL exhaust(someone wants to buy it off of you)? Does it not sound as good as you thought it did?
Later man,
Mike Arcurie

Re: Bassani LS1 headers...Are they out yet???
No, I’m not getting rid of it (2OTL). The reason I’m keeping it is because it sounds PERFECT!! I had a line on a possible good deal on another system and I had an offer from a friend on my 2OTL, and I would have made some money on the deal, but I decided to keep what I’ve got because I like it very much.
I’m not interested in SLPs really any more. Too many issues that I can’t fix/change with the last set we installed on a friends car. FLPs also have issues that I’m not happy with (V-clamps, banging). Hookers don’t come with a Y-pipe that I can use cats in come emissions time, and I don’t want to have to custom build one. Plus I don’t really want LTs anymore for clearance issues as I may lower the car a tad. I am only interested in mid lengths at this point, and the MACs require some extra work to make them nice (collector mod, porting welds, Y-collector upgrade, better coating needed) that I don’t want to mess with. Bassani might be just what I need. I just want to hear some reports on them first.

Mike, thanks for the tip on Thunder racing. I check their site and they do sell them. I just e-mailed them with some questions...
Anyone else have any Bassani info or results?

Re: Bassani LS1 headers...Are they out yet???
RPM WS6,
I was considering the FLP's and the SLP's for my car. Could you elaborate on the "issues" you were refering to with these headers? Also, do you know how much power you'll be giving up by going with the mid-length rather than the LT's?
Thanks,

Re: Bassani LS1 headers...Are they out yet???
I posted asking about them a couple of months ago before I bought Hooker LT's. Thunder said they had them and would post pics, but they never did. I still think they must be top secret . Either that, or no one is serious about selling them. I might have bought them. Oh well.

Hey Ryan,
How the hell do you get sooo many posts - you need to find more work to do
I also like the look of the Bassani's Mid Length's - the pics on Thunders siet look like they are made to a very high quality. Bassani's website is undergoing modifications and they say it will be back up by April 1. I'm seriously thinking about buying a set of them - I don't care much for the issues of the Long Tubes and the small ground clearance. Up here in Western NY the roads are brutal and I'd end up banging the crap out of LT's.
Let me know if you get em and how they are - you'll probably beet me on getting them. I just bought a whole ton of stuff for the car and the wife will kill me if I spend any more in the next couple months. I still need to buy Nitto's anyhow.

Re: Bassani LS1 headers...Are they out yet???
Thanks for all the replies guys.
Hi Mitch, how ya doin' ; I will be sure to keep you informed if I buy a set, but I probably wouldn’t buy them till April at the soonest.
Slowhawk... Thanks for the info!! Does your friend have any fitment issues? Like banging?
ACCELR8... The SLP issues I was referring to were issues with banging Y-pipes (that I thought I had a fix for but it didn’t last) and not enough ground clearance if I lower the car. My concern with FLPs is the V clamps getting tore up if lower the car, and also some banging issues on some cars. I really want mid lengths at this point for a street car, it just seems like less hassles that way...
Still waiting for a reply from Thunder...

I'm doing pretty good - been relatively busy with work and trying to get my taxes completed. I've got a bunch of parts sitting for my car so I have even more work to do. I have only been posting a little bit but have visited the site daily to check any good looking posts. The Bassani headers most likely fit very well - like the MAC's only they look like better quality from the pictures. I won't get a set till the fall anyhow so you'll have them before me
As always - nice talking to ya !
regards,
Mitch

Re: Bassani LS1 headers...Are they out yet???
RPM,
i installed a set of bassani's mid length headers w/their orp and i was impressed. inside the collecter looks something like JBA's firecone shorty and the quality was great. it took me nearly 6 hrs to do all by myself but with a friend i am sure you can beat that easily. there were a few details that were not included in the installation guide. apparently these headers were initially designed for LS1's that had the EGR valve so to compensate for that on '01s, they required a block-off plate for the extra provision on the pass side--which was provided by bassani. the header on the pass side dropped in from the top and required removal of the valve cover. the header on the driver side went in from the bottom and required removal of the steering linkage (details not mentioned in the guide). their orp is stainless and was a bit pricy but looks to be a better design than most. i went alittle bit beyond resonable with this exhaust and also had another y-pipe made with bullet cats for smog. for the most part i run the car w/the orp and when it's time to smog it, i just swap in the piece w/the cats. nothing from the headers to the intermediate pipe is welded so this works good for me and i've had no troubles w/leaks. i did not consider LT's since the car rides on springs by hotchkis (1 1/4" drop). hope this helps.

Re: Bassani LS1 headers...Are they out yet???
RPM,
there was no banging at all with the orp however, the orp did require some adjusting so the collector will not come in contact with the driveshaft. you'll see that after the orp is installed, it's visibility is very minimal. its stainless color is cool but i opted to paint mine black so it would be less obvious. the orp will also generate a slight tinny sound synonomous w/headers and i think it's this sound that most people do not like. it doesnt really bug me that much.
