Default Will descreening the MAF make you run alot more lean?

I have my Ltrims dialed in at -5 and my WOT around 89-90.

I removed the MAF screen and then went to the track, I didnt dial in my MAFT after descreening.

How much more lean could this make me? I am going to A-Tap my car later this week i hope.

what have you guys expierenced w/ the descreening.

thanks

It will generally lean the car out some over the long term. The ported ends with no center divider will lean it out more if that isn't enough. Have you dynoed the car O2 wideband yet? Get it to 13:1 with the screen out. O2 readings via ATAP aren't the best WOT tuning tools.

Don't think just descreening your MAF will let you run lean or rich. Descreening just allows more airflow through, but its before the MAF sensor so any increased airflow should be adjusted for. Porting the MAF is another story...

In a nutshell, without the screen, the air flow isn't straightened out before it hits the actual MAF sensor. This means it's more chaotic and therefore air is getting past the sensor without being sensed. Hence, you run lean. Check out installuniversity for more details.
