With an ORP it might sound raspy. I have gutted cats in the stock y-pipe and I've gotten nothing but compliments on it. Even before I did heads/cam it sounded great. Definitely a lot louder. I kinda jumped the first time I started it after gutting the cats.

Jake is right. I’ve heard it both with gutted cats and with a regular ORY, and it sounds absolutely bad *** with gutted cats, but with the ORY it rasps A LOT and sounds like total ****.

Well I have that setup currently...FLP LT headers with the off road pipes on, flowing through a LM exhaust...its F**King LOUD!

At 6600 rpms when I shift it sounds like a rocket...I really don't think it sounds like "***" but it is loud...you could probably hear it from at least a mile away at WOT, probably farther than that...

It was great with the 6-speed because I could shut it up anytime I wanted...now that I have the TH400 I need to switch it up...my car really doesn't start to get moving until like 3000 rpms and its a a constant rate until I get up to speed, then I can finally let off and it will drop to like 2000.....my stall is BIG though...

might sound like a stupid question but what does "ORP" AND "ORY" stand for
...i was purchasing the slp loudmouth once my income tax comes in
and its never loud enough for me...just don't wanna sound like ****...

ORP's = Off-road Pipes, come with SLP's and FLP's headers...

ORY = Off road Y-pipe usually comes with MAC headers

i have hooker long tubes, custom y pipe, no cats and the loudmouth. its an auto too. at about 2000 to 2400 rpm's, i think it sounds like ****!! it sounds like a truck with straight pipes and glass packs. i also have the dynomax bullet in the i pipe. it didnt help much. i dont even like to rev it over 2000 rpms in town cause of the sound. its driving me nuts!

The consensus is that it is loud as un-holy hell. That woud be a crorrect statement. I have SLP long tubes, ORP's and Loudmouth...LOUD AS HELL!!
But hey I like it, scares the crap out of ricers too . Can't wait too cam it...
ANY system with out cats WILL be raspy at 2100 to 2400 or so rpm. UNLESS you have a custom set up with TRUE dual exhaust. The best system I have heard is the GMMG chambered exhaust, and that was with cats. Wonderful deep note.

I've heard the SLP LM without cat's and it was almost the worst sounding LS1 I've ever heard. Only a Borla without cat's is worse and thats not saying much. I'd suggest leaving the cats on or switching to an SLP dual/dual cat-back for no rasp.

Dude, I am not shitting you when I say that your car will have the infamous........

ATOMIC FART!!!......OR IN IT'S NEWEST DEBUT, THE WOUNDED DUCK!!.....(copyright, Joshua Damian Benson, 1998 inc)

Thats about what your car will sound like cruising around town, and I am not even joking. I ran this setup for about 4 months and was embarrased to drive my car unless I kept it above 3500, which was way to loud. Most horrible sounding **** I have ever heard. But I have a Hooker catback, and it's all better now

My new setup should be really nice, I'm picking up a SLP dual-dual catback exhaust and I am going to run that as my catback instead of the loudmouth, so now it will be FLP's, ORP's, then to the SLP Catback...I can't wait to have it quieter from now on, especially with my "5000" stall...

Ok from reading the other posts I get that the LM w/o cats sounds horrible when paired with headers and ORP/Y.
I have it as my only mod thus far on my '99 TA A4 and love how it sounds from 2000-2400. It is loud but not that loud. If i took my cats off but didnt add headers how would that sound?
