Default Does your lid hit your hood??

I had a Whisper lid and it fugged up my SS hood bad! There was no way to keep the top of it from hitting. I just put on a Direct Flo and it fits nicely. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" /> Has anyone else had this problem? I think it may just be a SS hood thing.
Post what lid you have, what hood you have, and if it there is any contact.
Just for future reference.

SunCoast W6 hood, MTI clear lid. Hits right between the nostrils.

98 TA, ASCD WS6 style hood, GM/WS6 "raised" lower air box, and Whisper lid

Touches the hood very lightly in 1 spot (dime sized).. center of the lid. No wear on the lid, but a slight rubbed spot on the hoods paint. I put a 1" square piece of duct tape over the wear mark on the hood. Not rubbing though the duct tape. If there was only about a 1/16"-1/8" more clearance, it would be ok.

I dont want to adjust the hood to set slightly higher, becouse then the sides of the hood wont match evenly with the fender height.

I believe the mount holes in the lower airbox can be elongated slightly, so the whole assy can be set back (towards the engine) just a little. That may fix the problem.

Ron,

I don't have any problems w/ my MTI lid with my SS hood, but I had problems with all of the lids on my '98 T/A w/ the Suncoast Raptor hood.

Whisper lid, 00 SS, does not hit.

Is it always contacting it? Maybe you're just slamming the hood too hard and it contacts the lid initially but then raises up slightly?

*shrug*

I know there is very little clearance, so I suppose production tolerances could cause this.

I have a 00 SS with SLP lid and it hit near the middle back. I put a carbon fiber sticker on the hood so it now hits the sticker and not the hood.
If you look at my engine pic you can see the white spot it made on the lid.

The only time my Direct Flow ever hit was when I raised the air box.

Whisper on a 98 TA with no rubbing. It is having problems staying together after a year and a half, though. The sides of the neck have begun to crack a little. I epoxied it and my SLP 85mm MAF covers it up anyway.
