Default Installing Race Style Long tubes

Hey guys I just got some new Race Style(no emissions) long tubes for my '02 Z28 and I should be installing them some time next month. Anyways I will have to remove my AIR system and I wont be getting a tune anytime soon so Im wondering will the car run ok w/o deleting it from the computer when I remove it? Obviously an SES light will be set off but Im just wondering if it will effect drivability in anyway.

thanks,
Chris

I removed my AIR with pacesetter race style headers and have not deleted the code no problems here just a SES light.

removal of AIR and EGR will have no affect on the running condition of your car.

check out page 11 of the website in my sig for header install guide

Hasn't had any effect on the drivability of mine, just an SES light (as has been previously stated)

Yep, you'll be fine. I drove mine around with the SES light on all summer in 2005 til I finished up my bolt-ons and had it tuned. Your fuel mileage won't suffer either.

How would you know If the car is running rich? Removing AIR/EGR won't effect gas mileage?

Smell and black smoke are both good indications.

Not necessarily, but I believe it's more likely. Rear O2s are so far downstream, I think there's a greater likelihood because of that. Also you'll need to make or buy some kind of restrictor plate for the AIR system to prevent the valve from getting burned up...something like that. The best bet is probably to remove everything (AIR, EGR, rear O2s) and have the codes removed with a quick tune. I'm having Speed Inc. do mine, it's relatively cheap, much less than a full tune. The engine will also be much neater, and you shave off a few pounds too.

mine backfired a lot and 98% of it was cured when I took the AIR off.
but my mileage had been suffering for awhile before that as well so I knew it was time to remove

Yes you will throw codes cause you will only be using the front o2 sensors!
You will no longer be using the rear o2's!!
After your install, go to autozone and have'em check the codes and verify that they are the o2 sensors throwing the ses codes! only!
If your ses light starts to blink then you have a miss fire, and check you plugs and wires(i forgot to connect the #8 cyl).
goodluck!

He'll need extensions for the O2 sensors on the headers won't he? Maybe I'm thinking about the cats...
