Default First dyno (Need Feedback)

I Got 292RWHP and 314RWTQ on a stock everything. Is that good for a M6 Z28 with Only 400Miles on it??? i was looking more at 300RWHP, oh well this is what i got.

Go back when you have 2K+ on the car. Also, cars that are driven hard( but not abused)tend to make a bit more power.
When I dynoed mine for the first time,I put down 319/328 with an old style MTI lid & flowmaster cat-back.The car had 15K on it at the time.

With the same mileage & no mods It was probably the same as yours,+/- the usual variations that occur from dyno to dyno.
My car was a little on the high side for a 98.I saw dyno results from other cars around the same time & they were putting down mid 270's bone-stock.292 is good number for a base-line.Probably right where it should be.
My car also ran 13.6's @ 106 back then.

My 2001 Z28 M6 made similar power to yours, 294.7/316.0 with 2k miles. I too was a little disappointed after hearing all the talk of 01-02 models pulling 300-315 bone stock. The local f-body club is having a dyno day next weekend, and I'm going to run mine again with 11k miles to see how much break-in mileage helps. Only changes from stock will be synthetic oil, descreened MAF and (hopefully) NGK TR55 spark plugs if the damn things get here in time. They've been ordered over a week and haven't shipped yet.

I dyno'd at 273rwhp and 293rwtq bone stock at 5 thousand miles. After the !MAF screen mod, I dyno'd at 293rwhp. Since mine is an A4, I'm assuming I'm losing h.p. through the drivetrain. I was pissed that I wasn't anywhere near 300rwhp.

Getting there slowly but surely.

LSs1Power,

Don't worry, your numbers are just about average. Some go higher and some lower. Do the FRA mod and put a good lid and a K&N and you'll be at 300RWHP.

LS1 Power

The !MAF mod was free. My '00 Camaro had a screen on the MAF. We simply removed it (very carefully). We dyno'd before and after. I was shocked that it bumped up the rwhp by 20. Best free mod I've heard about.

If the car is having timing problems.. the increase from the ported MAF could be close to that.

My car picked up 7 rwhp & 10 tq

I am at 320/348 and I am having a G-MAF installed today because my car is searching for timing and I ruled out any fuel problems.

Our Dyno day here is 5-11-02.

I will post my before and after results.

I have an 02 Z28 with 4k miles on it.

LS6 intake manifold
whisper lid
cut-out
hpp3

and made 310 rwhp. Suck huh. But my car runs great.

After heads/cam/headers I got 389

I just look at what I pick up unless your numbers are really low (which they are not) and go from there. Dyno's vary a lot. I don't care what anyone says. I know this because without the LS6 intake manifold and cutout I dyno'd 310 on another dyno. I know I gained some HP and tq because I picked up a few mph at the track with those two mods.

So don't make the mistake I made and get hung up on your Hp rating, just remember what you gain after mod's.

And always try and use the same dyno for consistancy.

ERic
