Default dyno numbers

i had my car dynoed sat and i wasnt very pleased with the HP but the TQ was ok. It showed 316hp and 332tq. the reason i'm not happy with the hp was that ihad it dynoed bone stock and it showed 297 hp and 312 tq. since i have added lt's, 80mm t/b, GMAF, lid, no cats, 3" xpipe. thats only a 19 hp increase. does that sound right? i was expecting around 325-330 hp.

Did you try the stock MAF on the dyno, too? Sometimes the GMAF works fine, and sometimes it causes a lot of problems. I tried one on my '98 T/A, and I lost 6 degrees of timing with it! I went back to the stock unit, and all of my timing came back. Also, the 80mm TB was a waste of money. The stock unit can be ported to flow well for your application. Is your car an A4 or M6? The majority of your gain was from the headers.

its an a4. no, i didnt try ther stock unit. wanted to but didnt have time. it was a dyno day so they just did 3 quick pulls and that was it. i've always questioned the GMAF. the t/b was a waste? at the trak i gained like .2 or .3 from it? guess porting the stock would have been cheaper. What gets me is that SLP claims "up to" 40 hp / 51tq with their headers. i didnt even get half that.

Check my sig. No headers and not to many mods, but they work well together.

Sounds like your tune in way off.If your running headers I can see that you would be to rich on WOT.
My setup with FLP's dyno'd at 320 hp/338tq with no tuning.Then I got 340hp/350tq tuning with MAFT.

Hmmm the numbers don't sound too terribly off for an A4. I'd expect a little more from a long tubes car but it's still not too hard to believe.

I dyno'ed with 312rwhp 340rwtq when I had...

Direct-Flo Lid, SLP Loudmouth, Ported TB, Stock MAF Descreened, Clogged Cats

After I added the converter, the 12 bolt and some heavy chrome rims, the numbers plummetted despite all the extra stuff 'horsepower' I've done since. My most recent numbers are 292rwhp 365rwtq. Somewhat lopsided but it's enough to net me 12's at high altitude tracks.

As for SLP's horsepower claims from the headers - they're a joke. There are also 422 cubic inch LS1's out there. Did SLP say that the 40rwhp 50rwtq was from a stock displacement non-heads/cam car? No.

Look at the car they probably tested it on. SLP's test mule is their 2000 Ultra Z with a H/C 382. 'nuff said.

I don't know about you, but I can't wait to get headers. They told me I had a freak. I only had SLP loudmouth exhaust, ported MAF, freemods, C/F MTI lid, and dynoed 331rwhp 358rwtq SAE corrected. I hope you get it tuned good luck.

98WS6 M6, hurst billet shifter, cags, freemods, ported MAF, SLP loudmouth, c/f MTI lid, red calipers, waiting to go in on midtour ZO6 clutch.
