Default best way to seal flp's using v-clamps

i have flp's on my car and im running the orp's. i think im gettin a small exhaust leak on the passenger side collector and tried to reposition the clamp to see if it helps. looks like it helped a lil but i think im still gettin a leak. i was wondering what is the best way to prevent this using the v-clamps? is there anytime of gasket that i can sandwhich between the collector and the ORP?

Use foil, trust me it works, place it around the lips of each one on both sides, it works.. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I used the foil trick.I also had to tighten them about 6 times. After each heat cycle to seat them on all the way.

I used 3/4" wide aluminum tape which is thicker than aluminum foil and won't tear. Use 1 complete wrap and smooth the edges down then replace the clamp and re-torque while the exhaust is hot.

I just coat the ends with copper RTV and put the v-clamp over that. I have never had a leak with this method.

You can buy A/C tape at Home Depot, which is actually aluminum tape. It works wonders. It looks like a roll of thick aluminum foil with adhesive back.

Just got done putting the ORP's back on with aluminum tape. Excellent call guys.

One question; anyone else have excessive burning as the tape settled in ( or burned off )?

I took it out for a romp after disconnecting the battery for a 1/2 hour, came to a off ramp and smoke was billowing out. Went straight home and not near as much smoke but still lingering. Also left a white trail behind me on the highway. Any ideas?

I didn't notice any burning when I used the tape. The tape I used is manufactured by 3M, there's no part number on the roll it just says "Made in New Zealand core series 591". It's real soft and only has a light adhesive backing. Your probably just burning off the adhesive.
