Lid-O-Rama
today. Took right about 2 weeks ARO. I also have
a LS-1 Performance lid I got off a local dude
secondhand. I have the OEM air filter, a Fram,
a Purolator and the Blackwing that comes with
the SLP lid (at least, I think it's that filter;
it has no identifying marks, but is salmon-
colored, paper, and not-so-cleanly molded in
its plastic/rubber lip). And, of course, the
stick lid which is on the car now.
Here is my plan: I'm going to attach my shop
vac to each of the 12 combinations, just lid
& filter (no air box bottom) and measure the
vacuum level with an old vacuum/pressure
gauge I have handy. Presuming relative
constancy in the shop vac's operation, I
should arrive at some comparative flow /
restriction values for each of the combos.
Poor man's flow bench sort of deal.
Sound interesting? I'm under no obligation
to secrecy and I own them all so I figure
at least it'll be on the up-and-up.
