Default Car caught fire

today i went to get something out of my car at the shop and the intake and fuel rail was off and i didnt no, anyways to make a lng story short it caught fire. We got it out in time before it got back but it metlted alot of the wires in the back engine bay and things under it. My question is how do shops estimate this if its a total loss or what

pretty much determines what the car is worth and how much money it will take to repair the damage. In most cases that i have seen if the damage is more then what the car is worth then it will be totalled. But unless there is more damage then what i am thinking on your car then you should be fine.

get your thoughts straightened out first. fix that car is step #1

step #2 is sit down and really thinka bout your budget and ultimate goals for your car but be realistic dont say I want a daily driveable 1000rwhp turbo car.

step #3 find a set up that will suit your needs and wants, and research on those components to see if they will do what you want and if they will work

I think im gonna have them rebuild it but i wwanna cam it and maybe stall it and they can do w/e they want to the engine as in bore it .30 and i think he said they can do some to the head but not alot. Which company helps you the most pick your cam and package ive looked but all the numbers kinda confuse me.

Just curious, but what was the car in the shop for originally (before fire) and why did you need to turn the ignition on to get something out of the car?

does it cost alot for say a Chevy dealer to yank the eninge and replace the wiring? I no the engine needs to be pulled apart its full of fire extinguser and the valve cover gaskets are blown out of it. Im not sure if this is gonna be totaled or what.

DONT go to the dealer. find a good reputable shop to do the work for you. the dealer will suck every penny you own from your wallet for anything just about.

as far as picking a heads/cam combo, I dont know to much about the numbers and all but if you have yahoo I could help you sit down and figure out a plan and goal and help ya shop around for what will do it

The engine bay im worryed bc im not sure what all is burnt. I no the main harness is for sure but like under the intake where two wires go into the manifold them are burnt were do i find all this ?

dont buy anything until the car is fixed. you dont need RR's send them to HS for a rebuild and they will dof ar better than a set of roller rockers will. as far as packages texas-speed.com has a few you may wanna look at.

How does taking a cd out of the cd player catch the car on fire? The ignition doesn't need to be on.
Why did they not have the battery disconnected?
Why did they let an unattended customer in the work area?
I'd be pissed off if I were you, not happy about rebuilding it better.

i turned the key on and the battery was parialy unhooked? It just dumped gas out everywhere because the fuel rails weree unhooked. I just stoped in it was outside and i figured it would be just fine i did it.

Man this just doesn't sound right at all. Almost sounds like some kind of scam. Or a shop that is very careless.

When I turn my radio on I always turn the key BACK.
