Default 2k idol/ running hotter / TB blade sticking

those are my symptoms. after installing my PP TB the idol is very odd. At times, the idol is 1k, usually on a warm startup. other times, it fluctuates between 1k and 1.2k, like on a cold startup and when the temp is around 210. other times, like on a hot day or in alot of stop and go traffic, It can get as high as 2K rpm idol! the TB blade also sticks if Im at a stoplight for a while, when the car starts to get hotter. Im thinking part of the sudden heating and TB sticking is that the idol is too high. any suggestions? Ive tiried to check for any vacume leaks, and didn't find any. I covered the hole on the TB with some duct tape and it idoed normaly. shoud i just JB weld the damn hoe closed??? Im running out of ideas.

I'm thinking someone went overboard around where the blade seats at idle.

Im bringing tis back from the dead because I still have the same problem and its pissing me off. I checked all the PCV lines, and half were rotted out, so I replaced them. Ive done everything i can think of the past year or so to try to get this thing to idol like a normal car with no success. unfortunently, when i tried a search my thread ws the only one that poped up... Do i really have to get a tune? All i have engine wise are shorty headers, SLP LM, K&N FIPK, and a ported TB/MAF.

I suggest switching out the throttle body and seeing if that fixes it, if not change out the MAF sensor.

Theres most likely a little bit of a gap around the throttle blade, that would cause the IDLE to be off.

Had the same issue. I bought a used LS6 intake with a ported TB on it (unknown porter) and the blade was too small. So we ended up taking the stock one and the ported one completely apart and mixing the two together. Of course this was after we spent hours searching for loose lines.

Off topic, what kind of wheels are those?? NICE!

Look almost like HP Evo wheels.

Thanks they're CCW Classics, 17x11.5 in the rear and 17x10.5 in the front.

The blade has been knife edged, so I guess ill be on the look out for a stock one. Ill let you guys know if that was the problem... hope it was.

just throwing this out there , what color spring is it ? you probabally know this but the 98 has the brown spring and the 00 and up have the blue . i had similar problems when i switched mine . also check the tps sensor to see if it has the blue gasket on the inside . this may not help but maybe it will .
good luck

No tune is necessary. Do not replace the MAF. I had this same problem when I installed my ported/stock TB. It turned out the guy I purchased mine from had a larger cam and bored his breather hole out a bit on the throttle plate itself. If you say you covered it up and it idles better than that's your problem. I would not suggest JB welding it as the weld could fall off and cause some serious damage to your internals. Have you checked the idle set screw? That could also be your problem. Hope you work it out man.

A great way to tell if the blade area has been hogged out to much is to aim the TB (with blade installed) towards a bright light and see if you can see any light bleeding through any edges,,there shold be none. Dont be afraid to lube up your TB shaft () to help with the sticking.

Happy Holidays!!!

Sounds like the same thing that happened to me. My TB came off a 2000, and the throttle blade shaft in the 2000+ are different than 98s (I think 99s fall into this category as well but dont hold me to it). Anyways, after I installed it my idle held very high (1k-2k) and never dropped until I talked to a buddy who said I needed to swap the throttle shafts. So if your new TB is from a 2000 or greater, try that, and then adjust your idle screw and hopefully that will fix your problem.

Check to make sure they didn't forget to put o-ring on the IAC valve.

Hmm. I switched out the shaft but I could have swore that the end piece you are displaying was the same on both. I cant compare the two because my car is in the shop waiting for a tune, so all I have is my stock 98' laying around...Oh well
