I would run 1.875 full length headers with 3.5" collectors going into a 3.5" y-pipe with a 4" collector and a 4" catback, or some cutouts on there.
I think that a 3" y pipe would be okay, but I would probably run dual cutouts.

Re: Best exhaust for 427ci solid roller Engine 1-7/8" to 2" stepped headers with 3-1/2" merge collectors leading to an "X" pipe and true 3-1/2" duals. This would be the ultimate and probably make more power than open headers
